🎯 Direct 💙 Warm 😃 Humorous 🎨 CreativeWhy Eric Rosenblum, LMFT chose to be in the helping profession
When I was in my early 20s, I realized that I had spent my whole life avoiding engaging in the process of getting to know myself. I went to see an older female therapist who was roughly the same age as my mother, and I did so every week for five years.
That period of time was really formative for me. When I reached a certain age, I realized that I had it within me to assist other people in developing into the individuals they desired to become in the same manner that this therapist had assisted me. Fast forward years of schooling and training, and I feel honored to be in this meaningful profession.
Eric Rosenblum, LMFT's approach
My therapeutic style is warm, open, and creative; I'm also active and can be quite direct. Whether seeing individuals, families, or couples, I strive to help clients identify and befriend the different parts they have residing within them, while recognizing that many of those parts have been around since early childhood. This framework is in an effort to help clients react, behave, and make decisions from the wisest version of themselves.
What you can expect from sessions with Eric Rosenblum, LMFT
In general sessions with me are relaxed but focused, serious, but also light. Sessions with individuals involve exploring whatever they bring to the table on a given day; that may be something that's bothering them, a difficult incident from earlier in the week, or something from childhood they've been thinking about.
My style is to search for patterns, dig into whatever's on the table, and connect it to the broader themes and projects that we're working on. Sessions are an opportunity for clients to be with themselves and explore whatever comes up.
My work with couples and families is similar, but, in those sessions, we're exploring how the family or couple communicates and the dynamics that I'm seeing play out before me.
Eric Rosenblum, LMFT's experience working with the Jewish community
Whether I'm working from my office in Crown Heights or in the Financial District, I'm often working with the Jewish community. Growing up Jewish and in a Jewish community in a suburb of Chicago, I am naturally drawn to Jewish people.
Many of the artists and writers I most admire are Jewish; many of my friends are Jewish, and a significant portion of my clients are Jewish. I taught writing at Yeshiva University for several years. As a therapist, I see Jewish clients who are very religious, moderately religious, and secular.
