🎯 Direct 💙 Warm 💡 Solution-oriented 🙌 AffirmingWhy Tani Foger, Ed.D, LPC chose to be in the helping profession
From my earliest memories, the desire to become a therapist has been deeply ingrained within me. Raised as an only child by a single mother after my parents' divorce, I learned to adapt and evolve like a chameleon, honing skills that allowed me to navigate various environments. My journey into the helping profession is driven by a profound sense of empathy and a commitment to aiding others in coping with life's challenges.
My professional trajectory began in the dynamic setting of a methadone maintenance clinic in Israel. This experience was both challenging and rewarding, often tugging at the heartstrings. Transitioning into the role of a school psychologist further fueled my passion. Working comprehensively with students, teachers, and parents provided me with a holistic perspective on a child's life. The subsequent role of a school principal deepened my understanding of the intricate pressures that schools exert on families.
With this blend of experiences, I ventured into private practice, amalgamating my diverse background to offer a unique vantage point in helping parents and teens navigate the complexities of adolescence and family life. Beyond individual counseling, I facilitate parenting workshops and support groups for women entering retirement or grappling with empty nest syndrome.
As a mother to four sons and a grandmother to seven, spanning from preschool to college, I approach parenting and family concerns from the nuanced perspectives of a therapist, parent, and grandparent. This multifaceted viewpoint contributes to my effectiveness in working with clients.
My specialization encompasses Conflict Resolution, Bully Prevention, Short-Term and Goal-Oriented Therapy, Family Therapy, Teacher Consultation, Parent Consultation, and addressing learning issues, including ADHD and ASD. Additionally, I focus on anxiety and stress management, along with techniques to enhance social skills and peer relationships.
Through my diverse experiences and skill set, I am dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of those I serve, fostering resilience and empowerment in the face of life's challenges.

What you can expect from sessions with Tani Foger, Ed.D, LPC
In our sessions, I hold the fundamental belief that change is a possibility for everyone. Often, individuals find themselves entrenched in certain mindsets, requiring guidance to navigate towards a more favorable personal outcome. Our internal dialogues, whether positive and encouraging or negative and discouraging, play a pivotal role in shaping our feelings and behaviors. I am committed to the idea that altering one's thoughts, beliefs, and attitude can bring about positive shifts, influencing not only emotions but also behaviors.
I firmly believe in our capacity to modify unhelpful thoughts and behaviors, fostering the development of effective coping strategies to address current challenges and enhance overall well-being. Utilizing cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), our sessions delve into the intricate interplay between emotions, thoughts, and actions, aiming to empower you with insights that lead to positive outcomes.
It is my perspective that, at times, improving the quality of life doesn't necessarily require changing external circumstances; rather, it involves taking control of one's perception of those circumstances. Together, we will navigate this journey of self-discovery and transformation, working collaboratively to empower you with the tools to manage challenges, cultivate resilience, and enhance the overall quality of your life.
