Why Chana Yael Leizorek chose to be in the helping profession

I chose to enter the helping profession because I became deeply aware of how much suffering exists in the world, and I felt a strong pull to bring healing where I could. Being a mental health professional allows me to live the mitzvah of being nosei b’ol im chaveiro in a very real and meaningful way, by sitting with others in their pain and walking alongside them through it. Therapy is not just a profession for me, but a way of connecting to people with compassion, presence, and care. Through this work, I am able to meet individuals where they are and help create space for understanding and relief.

As a child of Holocaust survivors, I carry a deep, personal understanding of trauma and its lasting impact. This lived awareness fuels my longing to help people who have gone through traumatic experiences find healing and stability in their lives. In my many years as a kallah teacher, I came to realize that preparing women for marriage is only the beginning, and that ongoing support throughout the journey is just as essential. Being a therapist allows me to connect with the essence of what it means to be human, to witness resilience, vulnerability, and growth, and to help people move toward a life that feels more grounded, supported, and whole.

Chana Yael Leizorek's approach

I have a holistic approach to therapy and see healing as a process that involves the whole person. My way of working is from a bottom-up perspective, with close attention to what is happening in the body, the emotions, and the inner experience, not only the thoughts. I strive to see the light and greatness in each of my clients and to gently reflect that back to them, especially when it feels hard for them to see it on their own. This approach allows therapy to feel grounded, personal, and deeply respectful of each individual’s pace and story.

I see myself as a guide in the healing process rather than the one doing the healing. I believe that each client carries their own healing capacity within themselves, even when it feels hidden or out of reach. My role is to help reveal the wisdom, strength, and healing power that already exists inside, and to support clients in reconnecting with those parts of themselves. Through this collaborative process, therapy becomes a space where growth, insight, and meaningful change can unfold naturally.

What you can expect from sessions with Chana Yael Leizorek

In our sessions, you can expect a deep dive into your inner world, with an empathic and attuned presence alongside you. I offer a safe and nonjudgmental space where all parts of you are welcome, allowing your experiences to unfold at their own pace. Our work together is experiential in nature, focusing not only on insight but on what is being felt and lived in the moment. This approach supports meaningful connection to your inner experience rather than staying on the surface.

Therapy with me is a journey that gently uncovers the multiple parts involved in your healing process. We will take a deep plunge into your emotional world, exploring it with curiosity, care, and respect. As we move through this process together, the goal is to help you feel supported, understood, and more connected to yourself. Each session is an opportunity to learn from your inner world and to strengthen your relationship with it.

Chana Yael Leizorek's experience working with the Jewish community

My experience working with the Jewish community has shown me that the challenges that exist in the world at large also exist within our own community. While the struggles may take on unique forms, the underlying pain, confusion, and longing are often very similar. At the same time, Jews are naturally open to the world of spirituality, which can be a powerful source of strength, meaning, and resilience in the healing process. This spiritual openness often creates a deep readiness for inner work and growth.

At our core, we all long for connection, to ourselves, to others, and to something greater than us. The value of Kol Yisrael areivim zeh lazeh deeply informs how I view my work, reminding me of our shared responsibility and care for one another. I am also deeply aware of the intergenerational trauma present in our community and how it continues to shape emotional lives today. My work holds space for both the pain and the strength that come from this shared history, with sensitivity, understanding, and respect.
