Why Briele Dahan chose to be in the helping profession

For a long time, I didn’t realize there was a profession where my natural curiosity could be not just welcomed, but serve as the foundation of the work itself. I’ve always felt a deep reverence for the human experience, drawn to noticing how people move through moments of pain, joy, confusion, and inner conflict. There is something meaningful in simply paying attention, in slowing down enough to understand what someone is carrying and how it’s shaped them. That curiosity has stayed with me, guiding how I listen, how I ask questions, and how I sit with others in their process.

The more I studied psychology, the more I came to see how little we truly understand about the infinite strength of the human soul. Learning that psychology literally means “the study of the soul” helped everything click into place for me. Therapy, in that sense, is not an exact science, but a deeply human process that invites both structure and mystery. To sit with someone in moments where resilience and vulnerability, contraction and expansion, all coexist is to witness something profoundly alive. And while that can feel daunting at times, you don’t have to move through it on your own.

Briele Dahan's approach

I believe you are the expert of your own life, and that your identities, beliefs, and values deserve to stay at the center of our work. My role is not to lead or fix, but to walk beside you with curiosity, care, and full presence as you begin to reconnect with your own sense of power. Therapy with me is collaborative and attuned, shaped by what feels most true and meaningful to you. And while we hold space for what’s heavy, there is often room for creativity, lightness, and even laughter along the way.

I tend to work with sensitive souls and deep thinkers, often teens and adults who feel overwhelmed by the intensity of their inner world and want to feel more at home in their own skin. Many of the people I sit with are navigating identity exploration, complex trauma, existential and spiritual questions, or patterns around food and body image that feel chaotic or consuming. Depression and a sense of disconnection can also be part of that experience. Whatever you’re moving through, you don’t have to carry it alone. I’m in your corner, and we’ll make sense of it together in a way that feels grounding, honest, and human.

What you can expect from sessions with Briele Dahan

You can expect to be met with unconditional positive regard, no matter who you are or what you’re navigating. We can begin wherever feels most natural for you, and if you’re not sure where that is yet, we can take the time to discover it together. While I could say this is a safe space, I believe safety is something you get to define and feel for yourself. My intention is to create a space that is warm, genuine, and grounded, where you can explore what feels most meaningful at your own pace.

I hold the belief that even the most confusing or overwhelming parts within you carry a kind of wisdom. Together, we can gently begin to understand and unravel those parts in ways that feel supportive and effective for you. I draw from Existential, Somatic, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy approaches, integrating them in a way that supports meaningful and sustainable change. I am also currently engaged in extensive training in integrative health and nutrition as it relates to complex trauma and PTSD, and may incorporate psychoeducation around more holistic approaches to mental wellness when it feels relevant to your process.

Briele Dahan's experience working with the Jewish community

I have had the privilege of being part of a wide cultural sphere where Jews from many walks of life and styles of observance exist within my circle, both personally and professionally. I grew up in a non religious home, and later found my way into Hasidic life in my late teens, a path that deeply shaped how I understand identity and belonging. Over the years, I’ve lived in Jewish communities across different parts of the world, each one expanding my perspective in its own way. I continue to experience Jewish identity as something vast and diverse, as varied as the stars in the sky and as wondrous as the ocean, with room for so many expressions and ways of being.

In a world that often leans toward binaries, I hold a deep respect for nuance, for the many layers, colors, and complexities that make up who you are. Those parts are not just accepted here, they are welcomed and valued. In my clinical work, I have over five years of experience supporting Jewish teens in crisis, as well as Jewish adults navigating eating disorders, food addiction, and other challenges. I’ve worked with individuals from non religious, Chabad, Sephardi, Ashkenazi, Chassidish, and other backgrounds, each bringing their own story and relationship to identity. That breadth of experience continues to inform how I show up, with openness, cultural sensitivity, and genuine curiosity.
