Zahava Garber, LCSW's style
💙 Warm 👂 Listener 🥇 Empowering 🤝 CollaborativeWhy Zahava Garber, LCSW chose to be in the helping profession
I have always been deeply curious about people and wanted to understand how we think, feel, behave, and make sense of our experiences. From a young age, I found myself naturally drawn to listening, connecting with others, and trying to understand what shaped the way people moved through the world. I often wished I knew how to help solve their problems or make things feel a little easier for them. That curiosity became the foundation for an incredibly meaningful career as a clinical social worker and continues to guide the way I approach my work today.
My approach is rooted in empathy, curiosity, and evidence-based practice. I believe that therapy should provide both a safe space for self-exploration and the practical tools needed to create lasting change. Every person brings their own unique experiences, strengths, and challenges into the therapy space, and I value the opportunity to understand each individual’s story. My goal is to meet clients with compassion and genuine curiosity while supporting them in building greater awareness, resilience, and meaningful growth.
I believe that while we all carry burdens and face struggles in different ways, no one should have to carry them alone. Beginning therapy can feel vulnerable, and I honor that first step with warmth, respect, and empowerment. I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel seen, heard, and understood. Together, we can work toward healing, developing new perspectives, and creating lasting change that feels aligned with who you are and the life you want to build.
Zahava Garber, LCSW's approach
I’m Zahava Garber, a dedicated and passionate Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Miami, FL. I work with adults, teens, and families who are navigating anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, life transitions, and other mental health concerns. My therapeutic style is collaborative, warm, and empowering, and I strive to meet my clients exactly where they are while walking alongside them through their unique journey. I believe that therapy is a space where clients can build awareness, gain insight, and develop the tools needed to create meaningful and lasting change.
My clinical work is grounded in evidence-based practice, with advanced training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I believe in balancing insight with action, helping clients understand themselves more deeply while also taking practical steps toward the life they want to create. Above all, therapy is a collaborative process, and I believe lasting change happens when you feel both supported and empowered throughout the journey. My goal is to create a space where clients feel safe, understood, and encouraged to explore new possibilities.
I earned my Master’s Degree in Social Work from the Wurzweiler School of Social Work and received my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Hunter College. Before working in private practice, I served as a high school social worker, providing counseling to teens struggling with anxiety, depression, interpersonal challenges, low self-esteem, stress management, and a wide range of emotional and behavioral concerns. I truly loved having an office full of teens navigating life’s challenges and creating a space where they could feel seen, supported, and encouraged to grow into their best selves.
Throughout my work with teens, adults, and families, I have seen the importance of having a place where people can show up authentically and feel accepted. I’m known for my grounding presence, thoughtful insight, and genuine dedication to supporting each client’s individual goals. I believe that the greatest challenges often hold the potential for the most profound growth. Through effective tools, meaningful shifts in emotions and cognitions, and a safe space for deeper self-exploration, I help clients create lasting change and move toward a deeply fulfilling life.
What you can expect from sessions with Zahava Garber, LCSW
In our 50-minute sessions, you can expect a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you can show up exactly as you are. We begin by checking in on what has felt most present for you since our last session, creating space to reflect on your experiences, challenges, and any moments that feel important to explore. Together, we focus on what feels most meaningful while continuing to build on the work and skills that support your goals. While sessions have structure and intention, they are always tailored to your individual needs, your pace, and where you are emotionally on that particular day.
Therapy is a space where you can experience the full range of emotions and know that each feeling has a place. Sometimes that means sitting with pain, working through difficult experiences, and exploring deeper patterns, while other times it may look like moments of lightness, laughter, and recognizing progress along the way. My goal is to create a safe space where you can let go, feel understood, and explore yourself without judgment. My priority is that you leave each session feeling supported and equipped with concrete tools to feel more in control of your life, navigate challenges with greater confidence, and move toward experiencing life to its fullest potential.
Zahava Garber, LCSW's experience working with the Jewish community
I grew up in New York in a Modern Orthodox home where my family frequently welcomed individuals and families from a wide range of religious backgrounds and personal paths. These experiences shaped an incredibly open-minded and loving approach to the broader Jewish community and taught me the importance of finding connection with others while recognizing that every individual has a unique story and relationship with their identity. I learned early on that people do not always fit neatly into one box, and that honoring each person’s experiences, beliefs, and values is essential in building meaningful relationships.
This perspective has deeply shaped the way I approach my work within the Jewish community. I strive to balance my understanding of Jewish culture and its many nuances with genuine curiosity about each client’s individual experiences. My goal is to create a space where clients feel deeply understood while also having the freedom to explore and share their own unique connection, beliefs, traditions, and lived experiences. I believe therapy should honor the whole person and allow space for the many different ways individuals understand themselves and their place within their communities.
Prior to entering private practice, I served as a high school social worker in a co-ed Modern Orthodox school in Miami Beach, where I worked with teens from a variety of religious backgrounds. I was passionate about creating a space that felt safe, supportive, and open, where students could explore their challenges while also sharing what their connection to Judaism looked and felt like for them. I continue to bring this same approach to my work with teens, adults, and families in private practice, honoring each client’s individual journey while providing care that is compassionate, culturally aware, and deeply respectful.
