Yonatan (Yoni) Korbman, M.S.'s style
💙 Warm 🙌 Affirming 🥇 Empowering 🤝 CollaborativeWhy Yonatan (Yoni) Korbman, M.S. chose to be in the helping profession
I firmly believe that as we have all been fashioned by G-d, there is tremendous and untapped potential inside every person. I also believe that we are placed in this world alongside others in order to help one another grow, heal, and move toward self-actualization. As a young adult professional decades ago, I found myself reflecting on the people throughout my life who helped guide me, supported my growth, and encouraged me along the way. Their impact inspired me to pursue a path in the helping profession so that I, too, could experience the purpose and fulfillment that comes from championing and supporting others through their own journeys.
Being formally trained as both a Psychologist and Transforming Touch Practitioner allows me to bring together mental health and somatic healing approaches in my work with clients. I understand that challenges such as trauma, stress, and emotional dysregulation can affect both the mind and body, and I strive to support clients in addressing these struggles in a holistic and compassionate way. My goal is to help people work through obstacles, build resilience, and reconnect with the potential that already exists within them.
Yonatan (Yoni) Korbman, M.S.'s approach
I maintain a client-centered approach, supporting each person as their mind and body lead the way toward regulation, a parasympathetic state, and a more balanced, thriving life. I believe that clients already hold deep insight within themselves, and my role is to help create a safe and supportive environment where that healing can unfold naturally. When working at the client’s pace and lead, I strive to offer empathic yet empowering reflections, affirmations, and guidance that help clients feel both understood and encouraged throughout the process.
My training and professional experiences have shaped an eclectic and flexible approach to therapy and healing. I recognize that no two people are the same, which is why I value creating a nonjudgmental space grounded in positive regard, compassion, and respect for each individual’s unique experiences. My goal is for clients from all walks of life to feel a sense of serenity, support, and meaningful progress as we work together toward healing and growth.
What you can expect from sessions with Yonatan (Yoni) Korbman, M.S.
Over time, clients can expect to feel more regulated, calmer, more confident, and better able to navigate life’s challenges and stressors. As therapy progresses, many begin to experience greater ease, growth, and forward movement in areas of life that once felt stagnant, overwhelming, or difficult to manage. I believe healing happens gradually and with care, and I strive to support clients in recognizing and building on the progress they make along the way.
During our sessions, clients can expect to feel supported, respected, and welcomed exactly as they are, with all parts of themselves given space and compassion. I work to be consistent and reliable in the therapeutic relationship, helping to build trust and strengthen a sense of safety and attachment over time. My goal is to facilitate an environment that feels calm, serene, and genuinely conducive to healing and personal growth.
Yonatan (Yoni) Korbman, M.S.'s experience working with the Jewish community
I have been working within the Jewish community for over 20 years in a variety of roles, including School Psychologist, Somatic Therapist, Rabbi, and teacher. Throughout that time, I have had the privilege of working with individuals and families from across the religious spectrum and from many different age groups and backgrounds. My experience includes working within both special needs and non-special needs populations, which has given me a deeper understanding of the unique strengths, challenges, and dynamics that individuals and families may face throughout different stages of life.
Over the years, I have worked closely with and supported members of the Jewish community in many different capacities, allowing me to develop a broad and adaptable approach to care. I value meeting people where they are and creating an environment where they feel understood, respected, and supported in a way that aligns with their personal background and experiences. In addition to the geographic regions listed below, I also provide services to individuals and families in Staten Island, Rockland County (including the Monsey area), Monmouth County, and Middlesex County.

- TEB Like 1-2-3
TEB is a form of healing that uses Transforming Touch to help cue the nervous system towards regulation. Come along with us on this journey as we explore how this therapy helps our bodies, and what exactly happens during a TEB session - Nurturing Resilience
Synthesizing across disciplines--Attachment, Polyvagal, Neuroscience, Child Development Theory, Trauma, and Somatics--this book provides a new lens through which to understand safety and regulation. For therapists working with both adults and children and anyone dealing with symptoms that typically arise from early childhood trauma--anxiety, behavioral issues, depression, metabolic disorders, migraine, sleep problems, and more--this book offers fresh hope - The Anxious Generation
In The Anxious Generation, social psychologist Jonathan Haidt (pronounced "height") lays out the facts about the epidemic of teen mental illness that hit many countries at the same time. He then investigates the nature of childhood, including why children need play and independent exploration to mature into competent, thriving adults. Haidt shows how the “play-based childhood” began to decline in the 1980s, and how it was finally wiped out by the arrival of the “phone-based childhood” in the early 2010s. He presents more than a dozen mechanisms by which this “great rewiring of childhood” has interfered with children’s social and neurological development, covering everything from sleep deprivation to attention fragmentation, addiction, loneliness, social contagion, social comparison, and perfectionism. He explains why social media damages girls more than boys and why boys have been withdrawing from the real world into the virtual world, with disastrous consequences for themselves, their families, and their societies. Most important, Haidt issues a clear call to action. He diagnoses the “collective action problems” that trap us, and then proposes four simple rules that might set us free. He describes steps that parents, teachers, schools, tech companies, and governments can take to end the epidemic of mental illness and restore a more humane childhood.

What people have to say about working with me:
-
My teenage son worked with Yoni for several months. I saw dramatic changes, specifically with his anxiety, his reactivity and his ability to express emotions. Yoni was excellent in engaging my son while also staying in weekly communication with me, explaining his progress and making recommendations.

I struggled with chronic fatigue syndrome for four years, constantly exhausted, with little to no energy, and barely able to manage even the most basic daily tasks. Everything changed when I met Yoni Korbman. Over the past six months of working with him, my life has transformed in ways I never thought possible. I now have energy, clarity, and—most importantly—for the first time in years, I truly feel like myself again!

Yoni Korbman's power as a practitioner and therapist are in his grace, and his absolute vulnerability to hold what ever is in the room in any given moment. He facilitates his sessions with strength, accountability, and safety, especially when working with kids. Yoni has a strong intuition, and has a proactive approach with client needs and vulnerabilities. Clients come in to Yoni's sessions already as a whole person, but leave feeling more alive, and active in their wholeness. I hightly recommend Yoni for a truly deep healing connection, that will support you in changing your life
