Why Tehila Zuroff, LMSW chose to be in the helping profession

Growing up in a household where mental health awareness was highly valued, with my mother and aunts being psychologists, I was naturally exposed to the field from an early age. This upbringing significantly influenced my decision to pursue a career as a therapist.

In addition, my inherent extroverted nature compels me to seek connection and derive energy from interpersonal interactions. I find immense joy in engaging with diverse individuals and gaining insight into their unique life journeys.

The prospect of continuously learning about people's diverse backgrounds and listening to their stories is something that truly fascinates me. Each person brings their own set of experiences and struggles, and I am genuinely enthusiastic about understanding and assisting them in their healing process.

Becoming a therapist allows me to merge my passion for human connection with my genuine desire to support individuals in their mental well-being. It is a profound privilege to be able to provide a safe and compassionate space for individuals to share their innermost thoughts and emotions, knowing that I can play a role in their healing and growth.

Moreover, witnessing the transformative power of therapy firsthand, as I observed my family members making positive impacts on the lives of their clients, further solidified my conviction to follow this path. The ability to guide individuals toward self-discovery, resilience, and a greater sense of self-awareness is both rewarding and inspiring.

My decision to become a therapist is rooted in a deep appreciation for the human experience, a genuine interest in helping others, and a desire to contribute positively to society's mental well-being. It is a calling that aligns with my personal values and brings fulfillment to my professional life.

Tehila Zuroff, LMSW's approach

In my practice, I adopt a psychodynamic perspective because I firmly believe that there is no universal method for personal growth. I recognize that each individual is unique, and therefore, I tailor my approach to meet the specific needs of my clients.

Drawing from an attachment lens, I focus on understanding the complex dynamics of relationships and their impact on one's emotional well-being. I find great fulfillment in working with individuals who face challenges related to anxiety, depression, and difficulties in their relationships.

By delving into the underlying causes of these struggles, I aim to uncover and explore the unconscious patterns and beliefs that may be influencing my clients' current experiences. This process helps to foster self-awareness and promote meaningful change.

Within the therapeutic relationship, I strive to create a safe and non-judgmental space where my clients can freely express themselves. I actively listen and empathize, seeking to understand their unique perspectives and experiences. This collaborative approach allows us to work together toward their personal growth and healing.

I believe that therapy is a journey of self-discovery, and I encourage my clients to explore their emotions, thoughts, and past experiences to gain insight into their present challenges. Through this process, we can identify and challenge unhelpful patterns, develop healthier coping strategies, and enhance their overall well-being.

It is my belief that the therapeutic process should empower individuals to tap into their own inner resources and strengths. I aim to facilitate their personal growth by providing guidance, support, and encouragement along the way.

My approach to therapy is rooted in the psychodynamic framework, with a particular focus on attachment theory. I am dedicated to assisting individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, and relationship difficulties, and I am committed to fostering a collaborative and supportive therapeutic relationship that promotes self-exploration and positive change.
