Stephanie Gillman, LMSW's style
💙 Warm 💡 Solution-oriented 🌎 Holistic 🙏 SpiritualWhy Stephanie Gillman, LMSW chose to be in the helping profession
I chose to be in the helping profession because I believe it is a beautiful thing to walk alongside someone on their healing journey. We are spiritual beings having a human experience, and within that human experience, hurt and ruptures can occur. At the same time, so can healing. Healing offers the opportunity not only to repair past hurts and ruptures, but also to grow, deepen, and become even stronger through what we have lived.
When we have the support and guidance of a therapist, the healing journey no longer has to be one of isolation. It becomes a journey rooted in connection, understanding, and compassion. It is within that connection that healing begins to take shape and growth is able to unfold. Together, we create space for reflection, restoration, and meaningful change, allowing healing to blossom in a way that feels authentic and lasting.
Stephanie Gillman, LMSW's approach
My approach to therapy is very holistic, grounded in the belief that each person is more than their symptoms or struggles. I work from a humanistic foundation, integrating ACT, CBT, and mindfulness based techniques to support the whole person. Therapy is not one size fits all, and I adjust my approach based on where each client is in their journey and what feels most supportive to them at that time.
When it feels appropriate, I also draw on spiritual and religious strengths as meaningful sources of support and healing. I believe there is healing in the therapeutic relationship itself, in simply showing up with unconditional, positive regard and genuine presence. When that relationship is paired with helping clients identify their values and move toward goals that matter to them, powerful and lasting change can happen.
What you can expect from sessions with Stephanie Gillman, LMSW
I tailor each session to the individual, allowing the flow of our work together to be guided by what the client brings into the space. Therapy is collaborative and responsive, and I believe it is important to meet clients where they are rather than forcing a rigid structure. This approach allows sessions to feel natural, supportive, and aligned with the client’s needs in that moment.
Sessions often include a blend of practical mindfulness based techniques that can be implemented in everyday life, along with deeper exploration of values, goals, and self limiting beliefs. We also focus on uncovering and strengthening the client’s existing strengths so they feel empowered in their own growth. My goal is to support clients in building a life that feels meaningful, authentic, and expansive, one that moves them beyond what they once believed was possible.
Stephanie Gillman, LMSW's experience working with the Jewish community
I have worked with Jewish families in my role as a school social worker and have also supported individuals who identify as Jewish through my private practice work. This experience has allowed me to develop a thoughtful understanding of the values, traditions, and lived experiences that shape Jewish identity, both within family systems and on an individual level. I approach this work with respect, cultural sensitivity, and an appreciation for how faith, community, and personal history can play a meaningful role in the therapeutic process.

What people have to say about working with me:
-
I have known and worked with Stephanie for approximately 2.5 years in my role as owner and clinical director at Nassau Suffolk Psychotherapy & Wellness, where she has worked as a clinician on our team. Stephanie is a thoughtful, compassionate, and clinically strong therapist. One of her greatest strengths is her ability to build rapport quickly while maintaining professionalism and strong clinical boundaries. She is attuned to her clients’ needs, grounded in evidence-based practice, and brings a calm, steady presence into the therapy space. She is also reliable, organized, and takes her clinical responsibilities seriously. Stephanie handles feedback very well. She is open, reflective, and eager to grow. When given feedback or supervision, she is receptive and integrates suggestions thoughtfully into her work. She often asks clarifying questions and demonstrates a genuine commitment to continued learning and professional development.
