Why Rochi Katzman chose to be in the helping profession

I found myself chosen by this path of helping people and holding them in deep empathy. In understanding the other, it creates space for things to unwind, which opens access back to the self. I’ve learned that when I can hold the moment with presence, it allows the other person to feel themselves more fully in the present moment. I was drawn back into this work and knew I would be skilled enough to bring this level of transformational healing to a broader audience.

My own life has included experiences of loneliness, strife, and challenge, which have ultimately led me into deeper layers of healing and self-understanding. These experiences shaped not only who I am, but how I hold others with care, patience, and clarity. I am excited to bring my expertise and knowledge forward in a way that deepens the experience of being alive. It can be fun and adventurous, as I’ve come to learn, and I bring that perspective into the work I do with others.

Rochi Katzman's approach

My main outline is to pace the sessions and pace our time together, because if we rush the process, we can end up leaving parts of the self behind. The work unfolds best when we move with the body’s readiness, guided by discernment, honesty, and strength. I focus on tracking what feels present and available in each moment rather than pushing ahead of what is naturally emerging. In this way, the process stays grounded and respectful of the client’s inner timing.

The second tenant is creativity. Whatever concerns or stories my clients bring, I like to approach them as if we are on an exhibition or scavenger hunt, where what we discover becomes deeply supportive in understanding what has been going on and how to shift perspective from the inside. I enjoy playing in the space between what is and what can be, helping clients gently experiment with new ways of seeing and being. There is also an element of engineering life around what works, making small, intentional tweaks that gradually improve experience and direction.

I use a client-centered approach, which means I remain flexible and willing to readjust so the client feels comfortable and safe at all times. Client feedback is not just welcomed but actively guides the work, often redirecting me as the practitioner toward new avenues within my training. This creates a collaborative process where the client’s experience is central, and the direction of the work is shaped in real time by what is most supportive.

What you can expect from sessions with Rochi Katzman

Clients come when they are experiencing recurring emotional patterns that keep resurfacing, or when there are chronic physical symptoms or other ongoing issues that feel difficult to shift. Sessions are designed to meet people wherever they are, so the work does not always need to be deep or intense. It can also be experiential, practical, and educational, with something meaningful for a wide range of needs and goals. The emphasis is always on meeting the client in a way that feels useful and supportive for them.

You can expect a steady sense of containment, being listened to, and having your experience fully held. Even when unexpected material arises, there is support in a way that allows you to feel it directly in the body, without needing to intellectually convince yourself that you are okay. Within the process, clients are often guided toward simple somatic tools and self-supportive contact practices tailored to their specific needs. These are skills you can continue using outside of sessions to stay grounded and resourced.

For virtual sessions, guidance is offered to help you engage in self-supportive touch, with clear step-by-step support throughout the experience. In-person at-home sessions may include gentle touch along with conversation that helps move you closer to your goals by creating clarity and space around what has been weighing you down. Across both formats, there is an ongoing focus on creativity and finding new angles on old repeating patterns, allowing for fresh perspective and gradual change.

Rochi Katzman's experience working with the Jewish community

My experience includes teaching, recruitment for events and social activities, and coordinating volunteer efforts focused specifically within the Jewish community. I have taught a wide range of classes on Jewish mysticism, holidays, and Jewish practice for both children and adults. Most recently, I led groups through the Sefiras HaOmer, using that time as a vessel for reflection, structure, and creativity. These experiences have given me a grounded understanding of both communal life and personal growth within it.

I am very familiar with the issues facing the Jewish community, as well as deeply aware of the gifts, strength, and meaning that exist within it. My work is informed by both an understanding of the challenges and a strong appreciation for the richness of the tradition and the people within it. I bring this perspective into my work with individuals, helping them navigate their own journeys with clarity and support. I am excited to help you on your journey, and I welcome you to reach out when you are ready.

Rochi Katzman's Book Recommendation Zone

  • When Breath Becomes Air, by Paul Kalanithi
A personal account of a neurosurgeon who finds himself on the precipice between life and death. The book was published posthomusly.
  • Painting Zaidy’s Dream, by Miriam Karp
It’s a story of a woman weaving faith, history, prayer and her grandfather’s imprint in her finding her own path. Its a story of faith, family and grappling with her future. Fun fact, as a child in camp, I was asked often if I was in the Karp's family, so when I fell in love with this book - I gave a little chuckle because we are connected.
  • The Choice, by Edith Egar
An account of the holocaust, through the eyes of witnessing every experience as an opportunity for becoming.
  • Wild Game, by Adrienne Brodeur
