🎯 Direct 💪 Challenging 🌎 Holistic 🧘 CalmWhy Elliott Blitenthal chose to be in the helping profession
When I was a yeshiva student, I started working with a therapist during a challenging time in my life. His presence and approach made a lasting impact, and I remember thinking early on that I’d like to offer others the kind of support I was receiving. Over time, the idea of becoming a therapist felt less like a decision and more like a direction that quietly kept unfolding. It’s work that continues to feel deeply meaningful to me.
Elliott Blitenthal's approach
My approach is integrative, trauma-informed, and personalized to each client’s unique needs. I work holistically, combining mind and body, using modalities like EMDR, parts work (IFS-inspired), mindfulness, and CBT tools. I also offer ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP) and psychedelic integration for those for whom it’s appropriate. Many clients, especially those who’ve felt stuck in traditional talk therapy, find that incorporating altered states of consciousness can unlock deeper healing.
I’m sensitive to the spiritual and emotional complexities that often arise for individuals raised in religious communities. Whether you’re grappling with anxiety, trauma, addiction, or identity questions, therapy can be a space for clarity, healing, and reconnection—with yourself, others, and if relevant, your spiritual values.
What you can expect from sessions with Elliott Blitenthal
You can expect therapy with me to be both grounded and exploratory. I aim to create a space that feels safe, nonjudgmental, and alive with curiosity. At the same time, I’m direct and collaborative—I’ll help you stay connected to your goals and work through resistance with compassion. Informed consent is a key value in my practice, which means I’ll always keep you in the loop about what we’re doing and why. We move at your pace, together.
Elliott Blitenthal's experience working with the Jewish community
A large portion of my clients come from the Jewish community, particularly the Orthodox world, though I also work with people across the spectrum of observance and belief. Some have strong ties to tradition, others are questioning, and some are rebuilding after painful religious experiences.
While there are no psychological dynamics unique to Jews, there are cultural nuances—around family, identity, authority, and spirituality—that affect how therapy unfolds. Having a therapist who understands these frameworks can reduce the burden of having to explain or defend your background. At the same time, I strive to keep therapy open and inclusive: this is your space, not mine. My role is not to impose my views but to support your own growth and self-understanding—wherever that may lead.
