💙 Warm 💪 Challenging 🎨 Creative 🤝 CollaborativeWhy David Jordan, Coach chose to be in the helping profession
When I was younger, I was incredibly stubborn, insisting on doing everything myself and figuring things out on my own. While independence has its merits, I quickly learned that you can't do everything alone, and you shouldn't try to either. There's a profound strength in admitting that you need help, and in allowing people with the right skills, expertise, and perspectives into your life. These people can both challenge and support you, propelling you to greater heights than you could ever reach on your own.
This realization was not an easy one for me to accept. My natural inclination was always to rely solely on myself, but life has a way of teaching you lessons you didn't know you needed. I chose the helping profession because I wanted to make a meaningful impact on others' lives, just as those who helped me made on mine. The mentors, friends, and even the occasional strangers who took the time to guide me have all played a role in shaping the person I am today. I aspire to follow in their footsteps, providing support and guidance to those who need it.
My journey has brought me to work with elite athletes, individuals who are at the pinnacle of their fields. From them, I've gleaned invaluable lessons about discipline, perseverance, and the pursuit of excellence. These experiences have given me a wealth of knowledge and wisdom that I am eager to share. I firmly believe that my insights can be particularly valuable for single men navigating the often complex world of dating and for young men adjusting to the responsibilities and challenges of adulthood.
In the helping profession, I see an opportunity to pay forward the support I've received. By helping others, I am not only honoring those who have helped me but also continuing a cycle of growth and empowerment. It's about making a difference, one person at a time, and contributing to a community where everyone can thrive.
David Jordan, Coach's approach
My approach to coaching revolves around finding the sweet spot between directness and sensitivity. I gauge where on that spectrum will be the best for the person I'm working with at any particular moment. I believe in balancing a no-nonsense attitude with compassion, tailoring my approach to the individual's needs and readiness.
I don't tell anyone what to do because I wouldn’t want anyone telling me what to do. That’s a consultant, not a coach. My role is more about guiding and facilitating rather than dictating. I compare my role as a dating and performance coach to that of a great pitching coach. The pitching coach doesn’t have everyone throw the same exact pitches with the same release points and arm angles. Instead, they help each pitcher develop their best pitches and come up with a plan to put them in the best position for success.
Just as a pitching coach understands that each athlete is unique, I recognize that every person I work with brings their own set of strengths, challenges, and goals. My aim is to help them harness their potential, build on their strengths, and develop a personalized strategy for achieving their objectives. Whether it's improving their dating life, enhancing their athletic performance, or optimizing their nutrition, my focus is on empowering them to find what works best for them.
In practice, this means I listen carefully and adapt my methods to suit the individual. Some may need a straightforward, tough-love approach to break through barriers, while others may benefit from a more gentle, supportive touch to build confidence and resilience. The key is flexibility and a deep understanding of human nature, recognizing that progress often comes in different forms for different people.
Ultimately, my goal is to provide a supportive environment where individuals feel safe to explore their potential and take meaningful steps toward their personal and professional growth. By combining directness with sensitivity, I strive to create a partnership built on trust, respect, and mutual growth.

David Jordan, Coach's experience working with the Jewish community
I've had the privilege of teaching in Jewish settings for over a decade in various capacities. My journey has been diverse, ranging from teaching 3rd grade Hebrew School to conducting a class on leadership and character development (mussar) for high school seniors. This breadth of experience has allowed me to connect with different age groups and address a wide array of topics.
Over the years, I've also had the opportunity to speak and give shiurim at various shuls on topics that bridge both sports and Torah. One of my memorable talks was in Florida, where I discussed "How to Break Out of Your Spiritual Slump." This experience highlighted the importance of integrating practical life lessons with spiritual growth, a theme that resonates deeply in my work.
In addition to my teaching and speaking engagements, I've worked as a dating coach for singles navigating the Shidduch process. This role has been particularly rewarding, as it allows me to support individuals in one of the most significant aspects of their lives. My wife and I took our commitment to helping singles a step further by co-founding a non-profit singles initiative. This organization aims to create supportive environments and opportunities for singles to connect and build meaningful relationships.
My experiences within the Jewish community have been rich and varied, each role contributing to my understanding and appreciation of the unique challenges and opportunities within our community. Whether teaching young children, guiding teens, or supporting singles, my goal has always been to foster growth, connection, and a deeper understanding of both self and spirituality.
