Tova Weiss's style
💙 Warm 👂 Listener 💡 Solution-oriented 🙌 AffirmingWhy Tova Weiss chose to be in the helping profession
I became a doula because I witnessed firsthand how deeply women benefit from compassionate and continuous support during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. My journey began within my own family, when my daughters were growing up and starting families of their own. I wanted to be present for them in the most meaningful way, guiding and supporting them through their pregnancies with steady care and reassurance. What began as a mother’s instinct to nurture her daughters soon grew into a calling, as I realized how many other women longed for the same unwavering presence during such a transformative chapter of life.
Over time, this calling has only deepened. Each woman I accompany brings her own story, her own hopes, and her own fears, and it is an honor to hold space for all of it. My goal is to ensure that you feel supported, informed, and cared for every step of the way, so that your experience of birth and the transition into motherhood is filled with strength, calm, and confidence. I see this work as both a privilege and a responsibility, and I carry it with devotion.
Insurance & Coverage
Medicaid now covers doula services in full. If you have Medicaid, there is no cost to you for receiving this support.
Tova Weiss's approach
My approach as a doula is rooted in deep listening, empathy, and practical guidance. I take the time to understand each family’s unique needs, preferences, and values, including sensitivities around halacha, tzniut, and lifestyle. I believe that honoring these details creates an atmosphere of safety and respect, which is essential during pregnancy and birth.
In practice, I combine evidence-based knowledge with emotional reassurance and hands-on comfort techniques to support the birthing person and their loved ones. Whether labor moves quickly or unfolds slowly, I remain calm, flexible, and present, adapting to the needs of the moment. I see my role as not only offering encouragement and physical support, but also helping to bridge communication with medical teams so that your wishes are respected and your voice remains central throughout the process. My goal is to ensure that you feel cared for, empowered, and never alone on this transformative journey.
What you can expect from sessions with Tova Weiss
When we meet, you can expect a calm and judgment-free space where your hopes, fears, and questions about birth are welcomed. Together, we will explore your birth preferences, discuss comfort measures, and create a postpartum plan that feels right for you and your family. These conversations allow us to prepare in a way that reflects your values and ensures that you feel both informed and empowered.
I will guide you through relaxation techniques, labor positions, and practical steps to help you feel confident leading up to the big day. During labor, my role is to provide continuous physical and emotional support, staying present with you no matter how things unfold. After birth, I continue to offer care through follow-up visits, checking in on your recovery, your transition into motherhood, and your overall adjustment. My goal is always for you to feel truly supported, cared for, and never alone from the very beginning through the postpartum journey.
Tova Weiss's experience working with the Jewish community
As a frum doula, I have had the privilege of working closely with many families in the Jewish community. I understand the unique considerations that can arise, such as births taking place on Shabbos or Yom Tov, and I am attentive to the sensitivities that come with navigating those moments. Respect for modesty is central to my approach, and I strive to make sure that you feel comfortable and supported throughout pregnancy, labor, and postpartum care.
I also work hand in hand with frum doctors, midwives, and hospital staff to ensure that halachic needs and personal values are respected. Having someone by your side who understands both the spiritual and practical aspects of birth can make a profound difference, and I see it as an honor to help families feel cared for in a way that reflects their traditions and beliefs.
