Why Rachel Husney, LCSW chose to be in the helping profession

I chose to be in the helping profession because I truly believe everyone deserves to feel understood and supported. Life can be messy, and we all face challenges that can feel overwhelming or confusing at times. Having the right support can make those challenges feel more manageable and less isolating. I am drawn to being that support, offering a space where people can feel heard, accepted, and not alone in what they are going through.

I love helping people gain insight, tools, and the knowledge they need to move forward in a way that feels right for them. There is something meaningful about watching someone begin to understand themselves more deeply and feel more confident in their next steps. My goal is to help people make sense of their experiences and find practical ways to navigate what they are facing. I value being part of that process, where growth feels possible and change becomes something they can truly carry with them.

Rachel Husney, LCSW's approach

My approach blends insight with practical strategies, helping clients understand their thoughts, feelings, and patterns in a deeper and more meaningful way. I believe that gaining awareness is an important part of the process, but it is just as important to have tools that can be used in everyday life. In our work together, I focus on helping clients make sense of what they are experiencing while also giving them something tangible to take with them. The goal is to create a balance between understanding and action, so growth feels both clear and doable.

I utilize CBT and psychodynamic techniques to tailor each session to the client’s needs, recognizing that no two people are the same. I pay attention to both present patterns and the underlying factors that may be influencing them, so we can approach things from multiple angles. At the same time, I like to bring a touch of humor into the process, because growth does not have to feel heavy all the time. Creating space for lightness can make the work feel more approachable, and sometimes even a little easier to move through.

What you can expect from sessions with Rachel Husney, LCSW

In our sessions, you can expect a safe and supportive space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings openly. I aim to create an environment where you feel comfortable showing up as you are, without pressure or fear of being judged. Being able to speak freely and feel heard is an important part of the process. My role is to meet you there with understanding and steady support.

I listen without judgment and work with you to make sense of patterns that may be holding you back. Together, we look at what is coming up for you and begin to connect the pieces in a way that feels clear and meaningful. I also help you build awareness around how these patterns show up in your day to day life. From there, we can begin to explore ways to move forward with more clarity, intention, and confidence.

Rachel Husney, LCSW's experience working with the Jewish community

I have experience working within the Jewish community across a range of ages and backgrounds, and I value the diversity that exists within it. Each person’s experience is shaped not only by who they are individually, but also by the community, family, and traditions they are part of. I approach this work with sensitivity and respect, recognizing that these layers can play an important role in how someone understands themselves and their challenges. It is important to me to meet each person within their own context, without assumptions.

I understand that unique religious and familial dynamics can influence mental health and overall wellbeing in both subtle and significant ways. These influences can show up in values, expectations, relationships, and the way challenges are experienced or expressed. In our work together, I take these factors into account so that the support feels relevant and aligned with your life. My goal is to create a space where you feel understood not only as an individual, but also within the broader context of your world.
