Why Perry (Peretz) Lazar, CISC chose to be in the helping profession

Helping others in a truly meaningful way has always been a core drive for me. There are countless ways to offer support, but my personal journey brought me to focus on something fundamental that often goes overlooked—sleep. I chose to become a Sleep Coach because I understand firsthand how the quality of our sleep underpins everything we strive for, from mental health and career achievements to nurturing relationships and spiritual growth.

Throughout my own journey, I experienced the frustration of feeling held back, not because of a lack of ambition, but because of a lack of restorative, quality sleep. It’s something that can quietly undermine even the most driven individuals. Without sleep, the mind and body struggle to show up fully, affecting energy, focus, and resilience, and ultimately our ability to grow and evolve. I know what it feels like to be stuck in that cycle, wanting to thrive but not having the stamina to reach my potential.

But I also know the transformative power of overcoming those sleep struggles. There’s a strength that comes from having been there and finding the way forward. That’s what I bring to my work—an understanding of the challenges, but also the excitement of knowing that improvement is possible. I’m here to help people achieve the quality rest they need so they can show up as their best selves and realize the growth they’re striving for. It’s deeply fulfilling to support others on a journey that I’ve walked myself, helping them unlock a life where they aren’t just surviving, but truly thriving.

Perry (Peretz) Lazar, CISC's approach

My approach to Sleep Coaching is deeply individualized and tailored to meet each client’s unique sleep challenges and goals. When helping people overcome their specific sleep issues, I consider three essential areas: the mind, body, and breath. Each person’s needs are unique, whether they’re dealing with sleep anxiety, insomnia, snoring, apnea, or a combination of these.

To effectively address these challenges, I draw from a variety of approaches and therapeutic modalities, incorporating traditional life and sleep coaching alongside proven methods such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-i), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), NATTO (Non-Attachment To The Outcome) and hypnosis. Each tool serves a purpose, allowing me to provide clients with practical techniques for addressing the thoughts, habits, and patterns that impact their sleep.

Beyond these therapeutic methods, I integrate functional lab testing into the coaching process. By gaining insight into potential imbalances within the body, I can adopt a truly holistic approach—especially when addressing issues like apnea and snoring. This comprehensive strategy not only addresses the immediate sleep concerns but also aims to promote long-term wellness, resilience, and vitality.

Ultimately, my goal is to provide each client with a personalized, effective plan that empowers them to take control of their sleep and, in turn, unlock greater overall well-being.

Perry (Peretz) Lazar, CISC's experience working with the Jewish community

Helping members of the Jewish community is something I consider a true privilege. For many of my clients, who are observant Jews, this shared background fosters a deep understanding of the cultural nuances and values that are so integral to our experiences. This common ground allows for a more resonant connection, enhancing the therapeutic relationship and contributing to a more meaningful and tailored approach in my work within this community.

I’ve had the opportunity to witness how faith and tradition shape the lives of my clients, and I incorporate this understanding into our sessions. I recognize the unique challenges and pressures they may face, whether they stem from balancing religious obligations with modern life or navigating personal struggles within the context of their beliefs. This insight enables me to provide support that respects and aligns with their values, ensuring that our work together feels relevant and impactful.

At the same time, I have also been privileged to engage with individuals from all walks of life, regardless of their level of observance or affiliation with the community. This diverse exposure has enriched my practice, allowing me to appreciate the vast spectrum of human experience and the common threads that connect us all. My firm belief is to see people for who they truly are, without judgment or expectation. I strive to create a safe and welcoming space for everyone, where they can explore their challenges and aspirations freely.

Ultimately, my goal is to empower each individual I work with, helping them to embrace their unique journey while fostering a sense of belonging and understanding within the broader community. I believe that every person has the potential to grow and heal, and I am honored to be a part of that journey for those in the Jewish community and beyond.
