Why Mordechai Jacobs, LCSW chose to be in the helping profession

The driving force behind my choice to pursue a career in the helping profession is an unwavering passion for assisting others in finding balance and fulfillment in their lives. My focus lies in fostering healthy and meaningful connections, be it within familial ties, friendships, or professional relationships.

My dedicated mission is to empower clients to reach their fullest potential, guiding them toward the cultivation of robust and harmonious relationships. I am honored to facilitate and nurture the journey of individuals as they strive to become the best versions of themselves.

Mordechai Jacobs, LCSW's approach

In my therapeutic approach, I firmly believe that every issue presents multiple avenues for resolution. My practice is rooted in a client-centered philosophy, placing a profound emphasis on cultivating strong and meaningful relationships.

Early in my career, I underwent intensive training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), an experience that has significantly influenced my methodology. While I may not strictly adhere to comprehensive DBT, I seamlessly integrate its concepts, ideas, and skills into a dynamic therapeutic process. Additionally, I draw upon elements of Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to navigate the complexities of relationships and emotions.

I view my role as a collaborative journey with my clients, where I adapt and employ a diverse range of therapeutic tools. This includes leveraging aspects of DBT and EFT to tailor interventions based on individual needs. Ultimately, my commitment extends to doing whatever is necessary, always within professional limits, to support and guide my patients on their unique path to healing and personal growth.

What you can expect from sessions with Mordechai Jacobs, LCSW

In our therapy sessions, I aspire for individuals to experience an immediate sense of warmth, validation, support, care, and understanding, whether they step into my office or reach out for therapy remotely. Each interaction marks the commencement of a new journey—one aimed at delving into the core of the issues at hand and guiding the patient towards a transformative path.

My psychotherapeutic approach encompasses a spectrum of methods, ranging from traditional conversation to interactive activities, games, and moments of levity. The goal is to identify what resonates most effectively with each individual. This process may involve expressions of emotion, both verbal and non-verbal, fostering an environment where every avenue to healing is explored.

Patience, tolerance, and commitment are integral components of this therapeutic journey. Over time, individuals who have traversed this process have witnessed profound changes in their lives. They emerge with a heightened sense of meaning and value in their actions and relationships, experiencing a transformative impact.

My practice predominantly caters to adolescents, adults, and couples, covering a wide spectrum of concerns such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, BPD, parenting, dating, relationships, divorce, and various other issues. Each session is tailored to meet the unique needs of the individual or group, creating a space where growth and positive change can flourish.

Mordechai Jacobs, LCSW's experience working with the Jewish community

Throughout my entire professional journey, both within and outside formal work settings, I have been dedicated to serving the Jewish community. I initiated my career as an intern at Ohel in Far Rockaway, NY, and after completing my education, I continued to contribute to their mission for an additional 8 years. Upon establishing my private practice, I deliberately chose to operate within the religious community of the 5 Towns.

My extensive experience involves collaborating with individuals from all sects and diverse backgrounds within the Jewish community. This has afforded me a nuanced understanding of the intricacies within each subculture that contributes to the rich tapestry of the larger Jewish community. I value and appreciate the unique dynamics, perspectives, and challenges present in every facet of the community, allowing me to tailor my approach to the specific needs of each individual or group I work with.
