I am drawn to this work because helping couples heal and strengthen their relationships creates ripples of positive change that reach far beyond the two people in the room. A stronger, healthier bond not only transforms the partnership itself but also nurtures children, steadies families, and positively impacts communities. When couples feel connected, safe, and supported, they show up differently in every aspect of their lives, and that energy carries forward into future generations.
At the heart of my approach is the belief that every relationship holds growth potential, even when it feels stuck or strained. I see couples not only for the challenges they are facing but also for the deep love and potential that exists between them. By guiding partners toward better communication, empathy, and understanding, I help them rediscover the strengths in their relationship and create the foundation for a lasting connection. This is why the work feels both meaningful and hopeful to me, every single time.
Miriam Scheiner, LMHC's approach
My goal is to help couples create lasting change so that therapy does not become a permanent part of their lives. I believe therapy should be a powerful chapter in the story of a relationship, not the whole book. By guiding partners toward stronger connections and healthier patterns, I help them build the tools and insights they need to carry forward on their own with confidence. The aim is always for couples to leave therapy feeling more capable, resilient, and secure in their relationship.
I want my clients to walk away with a deeper understanding of themselves and each other, and with practical ways to keep their relationship thriving long after our sessions have ended. The most rewarding part of this work is seeing couples not only repair old wounds but also create new patterns of trust, intimacy, and communication that last. When partners know how to reconnect on their own, they no longer depend on therapy to sustain them, and that independence is what makes their growth truly lasting.
What you can expect from sessions with Miriam Scheiner, LMHC
I am highly focused in each session, making sure that couples leave with insight, clarity, and a sense of accomplishment. My intention is that every meeting feels purposeful and brings about meaningful progress, no matter how small the step may seem. Therapy can feel difficult at times, but I believe couples should always leave feeling that the work we did together was productive and moved them forward in a real way.
Just as important, I am mindful of not letting sessions end with unresolved tension or lingering bad feelings. While hard conversations are sometimes necessary, I take care to help couples leave with a sense of hope and connection, even when the work is challenging. This balance of addressing what is difficult while also reinforcing what is strong allows couples to stay engaged in the process and to carry the progress we make in session into their lives outside of therapy.
Miriam Scheiner, LMHC's experience working with the Jewish community
I have experience working with individuals and couples across all sects of the Jewish community, including chasidish, yeshivish, orthodox, modern orthodox, and those who are non-affiliated. Over the years, I have learned how important it is to honor each person’s unique background, traditions, and values, while also creating a space where they feel safe to explore themselves and their relationships.
No matter where someone falls on the spectrum of observance, I approach the work with deep respect and sensitivity. I understand that culture and faith can play a central role in shaping identity, family life, and relationships, and I take care to integrate those factors into therapy in a way that feels supportive and aligned with the client’s needs. My goal is to create a non-judgmental environment where each individual or couple feels understood and accepted, while still focusing on the growth and healing they are seeking.
