Why Jordana Goldstein, LCSW chose to be in the helping profession

I chose to become a social worker because I’ve always been deeply drawn to understanding people, their stories, their struggles, and what helps them truly feel better in a lasting way, not just for the moment. I’ve seen how overwhelming life can feel when you’re carrying anxiety, trauma, or the weight of trying to hold everything together for others, and I wanted to be someone who could help make that feel a little less heavy. My work is grounded in empathy, curiosity, and a genuine belief that when people feel safe and supported, they are capable of meaningful growth and change. I aim to create a space where you can slow down, feel heard, and begin to make sense of what you’ve been carrying.

I’m also deeply committed to working within the Jewish community in a way that feels both culturally sensitive and genuinely relevant. I understand the importance of honoring values, traditions, and identity, while also creating space for open and honest conversations about mental health, especially in places where those conversations can sometimes feel difficult to have. At the core of my work is a simple goal: to help people feel understood, empowered, and more connected to themselves and the lives they want to build.

Jordana Goldstein, LCSW's approach

I’m Jordana (Yardena) Goldstein, a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with nearly a decade of experience treating substance use and general mental health. My clinical focus includes depression, anxiety, complex trauma, eating disorders, and substance use disorders, and I’ve supported individuals across the lifespan in inpatient psychiatric hospitals, residential treatment centers, and crisis intervention settings. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working closely with adolescents, adults, and families during some of their most difficult and vulnerable moments. I strive to meet people where they are, while helping them find a way forward that feels realistic and sustainable.

I’m certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and have advanced training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and crisis stabilization. My therapeutic style is strength-based, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based practices, which helps me build strong, authentic connections with the people I work with. In my clinical work, I focus on balancing insight with meaningful change, with an emphasis on personal autonomy, healthy coping skills, emotional regulation, and building resilience and hope. I aim to create a space where clients feel supported, understood, and also gently challenged as they grow.

I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Stern College for Women in 2018 and my Master’s in Social Work from the University of Southern California in 2021. Originally from New York, I’ve called Los Angeles home for the past 12 years. Outside of my clinical work, I enjoy staying active, experimenting with new recipes, and spending time outdoors with my three children. I’m known for my warmth, empathy, and steady presence, especially when supporting clients through the unique challenges of adolescence and adulthood.

What you can expect from sessions with Jordana Goldstein, LCSW

In our 50-minute sessions, you can expect a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you can show up exactly as you are. I usually start by checking in on what’s been coming up for you, and then we focus on what feels most important in that moment, whether that’s processing emotions, navigating a current challenge, or working toward longer-term goals. The structure is there, but it always stays flexible based on what you need that day. My goal is for you to feel grounded and heard from the moment you walk in.

My approach is both compassionate and practical. Together, we don’t just explore the “why” behind your thoughts and patterns, but also build tools you can actually use in your day-to-day life. Depending on your needs, sessions may include skill-building, mindfulness techniques, or deeper trauma-focused work. Each session is collaborative and tailored to you, because there really is no one-size-fits-all approach to healing or growth.

For those who need more support than weekly therapy, I also offer an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). This provides a higher level of care with multiple sessions per week, allowing for more consistent support, structure, and momentum. IOP can be especially helpful for individuals struggling with anxiety, trauma, or feeling overwhelmed and who benefit from more frequent guidance and accountability. It allows for deeper therapeutic work while still supporting you in maintaining your daily responsibilities and routines.

Jordana Goldstein, LCSW's experience working with the Jewish community

I grew up in a Modern Orthodox home in Los Angeles, CA, and I bring a deep understanding of and respect for the many different walks of Jewish life. I have extensive experience working with individuals and families across a range of Jewish communities, and I’m passionate about providing care that is both culturally sensitive and clinically sound. I understand the importance of honoring religious values, traditions, and identity, while also making space for honest conversations about mental health and emotional wellbeing.

In my work, I strive to help clients navigate the balance between spiritual life, communal expectations, and personal mental health needs in a way that feels grounded and sustainable. I aim to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients feel seen, supported, and understood, without having to explain or translate their lived experience. My goal is to meet people where they are and support them in a way that respects both who they are and what matters most to them.

What people have to say about working with me:

  • I was referred to [Jordana] while I was in residential treatment. They made it so easy to set up a call, do an intake and find both a DBT skills group and a DBT therapist for me. I got a lot out of my skills group and really enjoyed the facilitators. Six months later, I am still working with my therapist who I adore! She is qualified, knowledgeable and has helped me grow so much in such a short period of time. I would highly recommend this group!
