💙 Warm 💪 Challenging 💡 Solution-oriented 🥇 EmpoweringWhy Rena Cohen, RD chose to be in the helping profession
My passion for helping others began back in grade school, when I discovered how much I genuinely enjoyed teaching, sharing my notes, and helping classmates develop study skills so they could succeed. That love for guiding and supporting others stayed with me throughout my years of schooling and naturally evolved as I discovered my second passion, nutrition and health. I became deeply fascinated by the powerful role nutrition and daily lifestyle habits play in overall health, including body composition, metabolic health, and hormonal balance. What started as curiosity grew into a lifelong commitment to learning, allowing me to confidently provide evidence based nutrition guidance rooted in sustainable behavioral change. My approach is focused on creating real, lasting results, whether the goal is weight loss, improved metabolic health, or feeling stronger and more at home in one’s body.
With over 20 years of experience, I am now best known for helping Jewish women who feel frustrated, exhausted, and stuck in fat storage mode. Many of the women I work with have tried eating clean, healthy, or very little, yet still feel unable to lose weight and regain their energy. Through a thoughtful, personalized approach, I help them move from feeling defeated to feeling confident, energized, and supported. The goal is not just physical change, but helping each woman finally live in a body she feels good in and can trust again.
Rena Cohen, RD's approach
My approach is the culmination of many years of hands on experience and continuous learning, and it is built to be so much more than a diet or meal plan. I created a 12 week virtual program that combines targeted nutritional strategies with behavior change principles, so you truly understand how to lose weight and keep it off. This program is designed to teach you how your body works, rather than asking you to follow rigid rules or quick fixes. We begin with a root cause analysis to uncover why weight loss has been such a struggle for you and how to change that in a way that actually supports your body, instead of relying on what I call band aid solutions that often lead to stubborn fat storage.
At the core of my work is my system called The Healthy Hormone Protocol, which is built around three key steps: reset, rewire, and reclaim. First, we reset by calming your nervous system and reawakening your metabolism through optimal, balanced nutrition, allowing your body to finally feel safe enough to release stored fat. Next comes rewire, where we shift your mindset and identity by breaking long standing dieting patterns and building new, sustainable habits that make weight loss feel more natural and less forced. Finally, we reclaim by locking in your results, restoring hormonal balance, strengthening metabolic health, and giving you the freedom to enjoy life without slipping back into old cycles. This final phase is what is often missing from traditional diet plans, and it is what makes long term success possible.
What you can expect from sessions with Rena Cohen, RD
As a client, you will receive access to my app, which includes a clear, step by step online curriculum showing you exactly what to focus on each week. This structure removes the guesswork and helps you stay grounded in the process, even when motivation feels low or life feels busy. You will always know what matters most and why it matters. The goal is to help you build understanding and confidence, not just follow instructions.
You will also receive direct support and coaching from me throughout the program. When life throws a curveball or doubt starts to creep in, I am there to help you navigate it and keep moving forward. In addition, you will be part of a supportive community of like minded Jewish women who are going through the same process and truly understand what you are experiencing. This shared space creates connection, accountability, and reassurance that you are not doing this alone.
I do require a minimum 12 week commitment when working with new clients and do not offer shorter engagements or weekly sessions outside of the structure of my Sanctuary Program. Years of experience have shown me that meaningful, long lasting results require time, consistency, and the right framework. This commitment allows us to do the work properly and ensures you have the support and tools needed to create change that truly lasts.
Rena Cohen, RD's experience working with the Jewish community
Over the last few years, I have chosen to work exclusively with Jewish women, and this focus has allowed me to deeply understand and relate to our unique struggles. These include social and community pressures, family dynamics, and the impact of generational trauma that so often shapes our relationship with food and our bodies. This work is personal to me, and it informs every part of how I support my clients. I meet women where they are, with respect for their lived experiences and the realities of their daily lives.
My program is not a cookie cutter meal plan created by someone who does not understand Jewish culture and traditions. It is also not a generic diet that asks you to cut out your favorite foods or sit at the Shabbat table watching everyone else eat. As a Dietitian who understands kosher, Shabbat, and the Jewish holidays, I help clients navigate real life in a way that feels supportive and sustainable. For many of the women I work with, having guidance from someone who truly understands these rhythms has been life changing and has finally made lasting change feel possible.
