Why Rabbi Alexander Coleman, MFT chose to be in the helping profession

I have always had a keen sensitivity to people, their personalities, their inner worlds, and the subtle dynamics that shape human relationships. I often find myself intuitively sensing what is happening beneath the surface, which allows me to offer guidance that feels both grounded and genuinely compassionate. This awareness has been with me for as long as I can remember, shaping the way I listen, respond, and connect. It continues to guide the way I show up for the individuals I work with each day.

For me, this work has never felt accidental. It has long felt like a calling to devote my life to helping others navigate the complexities of life with greater clarity, resilience, and purpose. I am deeply committed to creating a space where people feel understood, supported, and empowered to move forward in meaningful ways. Walking alongside others in their growth is both a responsibility I take seriously and a privilege I value deeply.

Rabbi Alexander Coleman, MFT's approach

My approach to therapy and coaching integrates the foundational concepts of Jewish wisdom and spirituality, which I believe offer a deeply meaningful window into the human experience, together with tried and tested techniques that have evolved over the past several decades in the fields of coaching and therapy. I draw on both worlds intentionally, allowing ancient insight and contemporary practice to inform and strengthen one another. This integration helps me meet people where they are while still honoring the depth and nuance of their inner lives. It is important to me that the work feels both thoughtful and practically useful.

I believe strongly in maintaining a balance between in depth psychodynamic and emotional work and practical interventions that help people move forward in real, tangible ways. In this way, I naturally blend my coaching and therapeutic training rather than separating the two. Rather than focusing primarily on problems, I look for the opportunities within them and how those opportunities can be realized. Whether working with individuals or within relationship challenges, my goal is to help people access growth, clarity, and forward movement in a way that feels grounded and achievable.

What you can expect from sessions with Rabbi Alexander Coleman, MFT

I aim to make every session a true “HIT.” First and foremost, H is for Heard. My priority is that you feel completely heard, understood, and genuinely met where you are. Being deeply listened to can be powerful in its own right, and I work carefully to create a space where you can speak openly and feel fully received.

I is for Insight. My goal is that you leave each session not only feeling supported, but also having gained meaningful, thoughtful insight that brings greater clarity to your experience. T is for Tools. You will not just walk away with ideas, but with practical tools and strategies you can use to move forward toward your goals with confidence and direction.

Rabbi Alexander Coleman, MFT's experience working with the Jewish community

I have spent the past 30 years teaching and counseling within the Jewish community, serving through two major Jewish outreach organizations with which I have been privileged to work. Throughout these years, I have had the opportunity to sit with people from many different backgrounds and life circumstances, each bringing their own story and struggles. This long standing involvement has shaped both my perspective and my deep respect for the complexity of people’s lives. It continues to inform the way I listen, guide, and support those who come to me.

Over these decades, I have guided individuals, couples, and families across a wide range of life stages and challenges. My work brings together Torah insight, emotional depth, and practical wisdom in a way that speaks to real life situations. I aim to help people not only understand what they are going through, but also find meaningful and workable ways to move forward. Walking alongside others through their growth and challenges remains work I feel deeply committed to and grateful to be part of.
