Why Miriam Staub, TTP chose to be in the helping profession

I chose this profession after seeing how deeply people can struggle with anxiety, overwhelm, and that feeling of being stuck in their own bodies. Over time, I became especially drawn to somatic work because I experienced firsthand how powerful gentle, body-based support can be in creating real and lasting change. What stood out to me most was realizing that healing does not always have to come through pushing harder or forcing ourselves forward. Sometimes it happens through safety, slowing down, and helping the nervous system feel regulated enough to finally soften and settle.

Watching the nervous system shift from stress and survival into a place of calm felt deeply meaningful to me, both personally and professionally. It changed the way I understood healing and the way I wanted to support others through their own experiences. I knew I wanted to offer people that same sense of grounding and connection, especially during moments when life feels overwhelming or emotionally heavy. My hope is to create a space where people can feel more at ease in themselves, more connected to their bodies, and more supported as they move through whatever they are carrying.

Miriam Staub, TTP's approach

My approach is trauma-informed, gentle, and deeply rooted in somatic, body-based work. Rather than pushing for change or trying to force healing to happen quickly, I focus on supporting the nervous system and creating the conditions where regulation can happen naturally over time. I believe lasting change often begins with feeling safe enough in the body to slow down, notice what is happening internally, and move at a pace that does not feel overwhelming. Sessions are intentionally paced according to each client’s capacity and tolerance, helping build a stronger sense of trust, safety, and connection within themselves.

I work collaboratively and believe that each person’s experience and needs are unique. My role is not to push someone toward a certain outcome, but to meet them where they are and support the process in a way that feels grounded and manageable for them. Together, we pay attention to patterns held in the body, nervous system responses, and the ways stress or past experiences may be showing up in daily life. My goal is to help clients build lasting regulation, resilience, and a deeper connection to themselves, so they can move through life feeling more present, supported, and at ease.

What you can expect from sessions with Miriam Staub, TTP

Sessions are designed to offer a supportive, trauma-informed space where the focus is on nervous system regulation, stabilization, and creating a greater sense of safety within yourself. Using gentle somatic, body-based approaches, we work slowly and intentionally, allowing the process to unfold at a pace that feels comfortable and manageable for you. There is no pressure to share more than you are ready for, and no expectation to push beyond your capacity. I believe healing happens more naturally when people feel safe, supported, and able to stay connected to themselves throughout the process.

Our work together is centered on helping you build a more grounded relationship with your body, emotions, and nervous system over time. Sessions are tailored to your individual needs, with space to notice patterns, responses, and sensations without judgment or urgency. Many clients find that as they begin to feel more regulated, they also experience greater calm, improved emotional balance, and a deeper sense of trust in themselves. The goal is not perfection, but helping you feel more connected, more resilient, and more at ease in your daily life.

  • The Body Keeps the Score
Trauma is a fact of life. Veterans and their families deal with the painful aftermath of combat; one in five Americans has been molested; one in four grew up with alcoholics; one in three couples have engaged in physical violence. Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, one of the world’s foremost experts on trauma, has spent over three decades working with survivors. In The Body Keeps the Score, he uses recent scientific advances to show how trauma literally reshapes both body and brain, compromising sufferers’ capacities for pleasure, engagement, self-control, and trust. He explores innovative treatments—from neurofeedback and meditation to sports, drama, and yoga—that offer new paths to recovery by activating the brain’s natural neuroplasticity. Based on Dr. van der Kolk’s own research and that of other leading specialists, The Body Keeps the Score exposes the tremendous power of our relationships both to hurt and to heal—and offers new hope for reclaiming lives.
  • Nurturing Resilience
Kathy L. Kain and Stephen J. Terrell draw on fifty years of their combined clinical and teaching experience to provide this clear road map for understanding the complexities of early trauma and its related symptoms. Experts in the physiology of trauma, the authors present an introduction to their innovative somatic approach that has evolved to help thousands improve their lives. Synthesizing across disciplines—Attachment, Polyvagal, Neuroscience, Child Development Theory, Trauma, and Somatics—this book provides a new lens through which to understand safety and regulation. It includes the survey used in the groundbreaking ACE Study, which discovered a clear connection between early childhood trauma and chronic health problems. For therapists working with both adults, children, and anyone dealing with symptoms that typically arise from early childhood trauma—anxiety, behavioral issues, depression, metabolic disorders, migraine, sleep problems, and more—this book offers hope for a happier, trauma-free life.

What people have to say about working with me:

  • I refer many of my clients who suffer from Trauma to Miriam. She has shown strong understanding of how the nervous system is affected by trauma and constantly educates herself with the latest studies and about the different modalities used to treat trauma. She consults with me and others in the field when necessary. Regarding feedback, she handles it constructively. She always tries to expand her knowledge and learn from mistakes. The feedback I have received from the referrals I made has all been positive. She is gentle with them and they feel safe and heard.
