Why Lisa Moskovitz, RDN chose to be in the helping profession

Helping others is something that has always come naturally to me. There is nothing more rewarding than hearing someone say, “wow, I feel so much better now,” and that sense of relief and clarity is what I strive for at the end of every session. I am deeply motivated by the moments when clients leave feeling lighter, more understood, and more hopeful than when they arrived. Those moments are what affirm that I am exactly where I am meant to be.

I am especially drawn to more complex cases, where I can roll up my sleeves and put on my analytical hat. I love the process of carefully understanding patterns, connecting dots, and thinking through challenges in a thoughtful and intentional way. To me, working in healthcare is both an art and a science, and I find real fulfillment in blending the two. Being able to combine my favorite subjects from school while helping people move toward becoming the best versions of themselves is not just my work, it is my passion.

Lisa Moskovitz, RDN's approach

There is no one-size-fits-all approach, and I truly believe that people do not change because they are forced to. Real change happens when someone is ready, and when they have the right support, tools, and knowledge in place. For that reason, my work often shifts between coaching and counseling, depending on where you are both mentally and physically. Coaching tends to focus more on action and goal-setting, while counseling allows us to go deeper into therapeutic work and underlying patterns.

I will never jump straight into goals or meal planning without first taking the time to really understand you. Your experiences, history, and current relationship with food matter, and they guide how we move forward together. I also always incorporate discussion around body image and your relationship with food, sometimes lightly and sometimes more in depth. If you are seeking my guidance, there is often confusion or noise around both, and creating clarity and compassion in those areas is an essential part of the work we do.

What you can expect from sessions with Lisa Moskovitz, RDN

You can expect our sessions to get into the nitty gritty. I take the time to learn as much about you as possible before we ever jump into goal-setting or deciding what we need to focus on. Your story, your patterns, and your day-to-day reality all matter, and they help shape the direction of our work together. By the end of each session, it will be clear what the plan is and what the expectations are moving forward.

The first few sessions are very much a getting-to-know-you stage, and that goes both ways. It is just as important for you to learn about my style as it is for me to learn about you. Trust does not happen automatically, and I do not expect you to take my guidance seriously until you feel you understand who I am and where I am coming from. Building that trust lays the foundation for the meaningful, lasting work we will do together.

Lisa Moskovitz, RDN's experience working with the Jewish community

I come from a Conservative Jewish family and have been working in Manhattan for over a decade, which has given me extensive experience working with the Jewish community. This background allows me to approach my work with a deep level of comfort, familiarity, and cultural understanding. I am mindful of the values, traditions, and nuances that often shape daily life, family dynamics, and decision-making. My goal is always to create a space that feels respectful, informed, and natural, so the work can focus on what truly matters to you.
