Anything that’s human is mentionable, and anything that is mentionable can be more manageable. When we can talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary.

Why Esther Teitelbaum, LCSW chose to be in the helping profession

From as far back as I can remember, I’ve always been an empathetic listener and deep thinker. It’s as if understanding and connecting with others on a meaningful level is woven into the fabric of who I am. My caring nature naturally drew me to this profession.

Those who know me well often encouraged me to pursue this path, recognizing qualities in me that are well-suited for this work. They saw my ability to listen without judgment and offer support with genuine compassion, and their encouragement reinforced what I already felt in my heart—that this was the right path for me. It’s more than just a career; it’s a calling that resonates deeply with who I am and the values I hold dear.

Esther Teitelbaum, LCSW's approach

I see so many individuals struggling with anxiety, trauma, and complex interpersonal relationships, often searching for something deeper and more transformative than traditional talk therapy. It's common for people to feel frustrated when their therapy experience doesn't seem to resolve the core issues that brought them to counseling in the first place.

I understand that frustration, which is why my approach goes beyond surface-level conversations. I believe that true progress can be made by adopting an attachment-focused lens and integrating Internal Family Systems (IFS) parts work.

This approach allows clients to explore and heal their inner world, addressing the root causes of their struggles and fostering lasting change. By helping clients turn inward and connect with their various parts, we can create a more holistic and meaningful therapeutic experience, one that honors the complexity of the human experience and leads to deeper healing.

Esther Teitelbaum, LCSW's experience working with the Jewish community

My journey working within the Jewish community spans many years and diverse roles. I began my career as an elementary school teacher in a Jewish day school, where I had the privilege of contributing to the educational and personal growth of young students.

From there, I moved on to work as a Social Work Intern (SWI) at the Marion and Aaron Gural JCC and the Jewish Board in Brooklyn Real Pros, where I gained valuable experience supporting community members through various challenges. My commitment to addressing family issues continued at Met Council, where I spent over three years in their family violence department.

Throughout these roles, I’ve developed a deep understanding of the unique dynamics and needs within the Jewish community, allowing me to offer informed and compassionate support tailored to the cultural and spiritual contexts of those I work with.
