Anything that’s human is mentionable, and anything that is mentionable can be more manageable. When we can talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary.

Why Esther Teitelbaum, LCSW chose to be in the helping profession

From as far back as I can remember, I have been an empathetic listener and a deep thinker. Connecting with others on a meaningful level feels natural to me, almost as if it is woven into the fabric of who I am. This ability to truly understand people drew me to this profession, and I have always felt a sense of purpose in helping others navigate their challenges and uncover their strengths.

Those who know me well often encouraged me to pursue this path, noticing qualities in me that seemed perfectly suited for this work. They saw my capacity to listen without judgment and to offer support with genuine compassion, and their encouragement only confirmed what I already felt in my heart. This is more than a career for me; it is a calling that reflects who I am and the values I hold most dear. Guiding others through their journey and witnessing their growth is not just fulfilling—it is a privilege I carry with gratitude and dedication.

Esther Teitelbaum, LCSW's approach

I see so many individuals struggling with anxiety, trauma, and complex interpersonal relationships, often seeking something deeper and more transformative than traditional talk therapy can offer. It is common to feel frustrated when therapy seems to address only the surface issues without getting to the heart of what brought you there.

I understand that frustration, which is why my approach goes beyond surface-level conversations. By using an attachment-focused lens and integrating Internal Family Systems (IFS) parts work, I help clients explore and heal their inner world. This approach addresses the root causes of struggles and fosters lasting change. By connecting with and understanding your various parts, we create a more holistic and meaningful therapeutic experience—one that honors the complexity of the human experience and leads to deeper, more authentic healing.

By combining these modalities, I aim to create a warm, inviting space where growth and healing can happen naturally. My approach balances compassion with a touch of humor, making it possible to work through challenges while feeling supported and respected. Together, we will navigate your journey toward healing, drawing on the strengths of multiple therapeutic techniques to guide you toward lasting change.

Esther Teitelbaum, LCSW's experience working with the Jewish community

My journey within the Jewish community spans many years and a variety of roles, each shaping the way I approach my work today. I began as an elementary school teacher in a Jewish day school, where I had the privilege of supporting the educational and personal growth of young students. Those early experiences sparked my passion for guiding others and deepened my understanding of the importance of connection and guidance at every stage of life.

From there, I continued as a Social Work Intern at the Marion and Aaron Gural JCC and the Jewish Board in Brooklyn Real Pros, gaining hands-on experience helping community members navigate diverse challenges. My commitment to supporting families grew further during over three years in the family violence department at Met Council. Through these experiences, I developed a deep understanding of the unique dynamics within the Jewish community, allowing me to offer guidance that is not only compassionate but also culturally and spiritually informed, tailored to meet the needs of those I serve.
