Rachel Zimmerman, LCPC's style
💙 Warm 🥇 Empowering 🤝 CollaborativeWhy Rachel Zimmerman, LCPC chose to be in the helping profession
I feel truly honored to sit across from people and have conversations about some of the hardest parts of life. Time and again I am inspired by the strength and resilience people carry, even when they don’t always see it in themselves. A big part of my role is helping clients uncover that inner strength, learn to trust it, and find meaningful ways to use it. I believe the therapeutic relationship is the foundation of any healing work, so I put great care into building and maintaining a connection that feels safe, supportive, and genuine.
I love listening deeply and creating space for clients to feel understood. I also enjoy teaching new ways of looking at life, offering perspectives that can shift old patterns and open up new possibilities. What moves me most is watching the small, steady changes that add up over time, as people begin to live with more freedom, self-compassion, and hope. Being a therapist is not just my job; it is something I feel grateful for every single day.
Rachel Zimmerman, LCPC's approach
I approach therapy as a collaborative process, where we work together to understand what is happening in your life and move toward meaningful change. I draw on Cognitive Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and EMDR to help people heal, grow, and build resilience. I also integrate interpersonal techniques, using the therapeutic relationship as a safe and honest mirror. This allows us to explore patterns that may show up in your relationships outside of therapy and create opportunities for deeper connection and growth.
I do not believe therapy should last forever, but I do believe it takes real commitment to face yourself honestly and work through the parts that feel the scariest. Healing and growth are not easy, yet they are deeply worthwhile. My role is to walk alongside you through that process, offering tools, insight, and support as you challenge yourself and discover new ways of living. Together, we can create change that feels both courageous and lasting.
What you can expect from sessions with Rachel Zimmerman, LCPC
Each session is 50 minutes long and is structured in a way that allows space for both focus and flexibility. I often begin by asking for an agenda, giving clients the chance to share what feels most important to cover that day. From there, we check in on current events and experiences from the past week, since life outside of therapy often offers meaningful insight into what we are working on together.
The main portion of the session is guided by those reflections, weaving in therapeutic tools and approaches to address whatever feels most pressing or relevant in the moment. Before we close, I like to spend time on final thoughts and reflections, making sure the session feels complete and purposeful. When appropriate, we also create a plan for what to focus on next time, so each session builds on the last while staying grounded in the client’s goals and needs.
Rachel Zimmerman, LCPC's experience working with the Jewish community
Since beginning my therapy career in 2007, I have had the privilege of working with individuals across the full spectrum of the Jewish community. From the most observant to the most secular, and everywhere in between, I have come to deeply appreciate the diversity of experiences, perspectives, and challenges people bring into the room.
What matters most in this work is not the therapist’s personal outlook, but the client’s values. I believe therapy should be rooted in those values, guiding the direction and depth of the process. My role is to listen, respect, and support clients as they navigate their own path, always honoring what is most meaningful to them.

What my clients have to say about working with me:
-
Rachel is a very talented therapist. She has studied many treatment approaches and has excellent skills in CBT, ACT, EMDR, as well as others. Rachel also has the gift of genuine warmth and compassion. Building solid treatment alliances comes easy to her. Perhaps most special among Rachel's many strengths is the value she places on supervision and professional growth. She is a lifelong learner and does so by prioritizing case feedback from colleagues and consultation groups, self-reflection, self-study, and training in our field. I think very highly of Rachel and I refer many people to Rachel for the high quality of her professional services. I strongly recommend her to you.
