💙 Warm 😃 Humorous 🥇 Empowering 🤝 CollaborativeWhy Esther Ebstein, LICSW, LCSW chose to be in the helping profession
During high school, my guidance counselor supported me through the challenging transition into freshman year, and the impact of that experience stayed with me long after. Her guidance not only helped me navigate a pivotal moment in my life but also showed me the profound difference that thoughtful support can make. That experience planted the seed for my desire to help others, especially during times of change or uncertainty. It made me realize that helping someone find their footing during transitions can shape their path in meaningful ways.
This early experience ultimately guided me toward a helping profession, where I could provide the kind of support that had meant so much to me. I am passionate about walking alongside others as they navigate life’s changes, offering guidance, understanding, and practical tools to help them move forward with confidence. Helping people find clarity and stability during transitions has become not just my work, but my calling, and it continues to inspire how I approach every client interaction.
Esther Ebstein, LICSW, LCSW's approach
My approach to therapy is warm, insightful, and skills-focused. I draw on a variety of therapeutic models, with a primary emphasis on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), to support young adults who are struggling with anxious or intrusive thoughts. I work closely with clients to teach practical strategies they can use in school, at work, in dating, and in relationships, helping them navigate life’s transitions and flourish during these important stages. For me, therapy is not just about understanding challenges but equipping clients with tools they can apply in their daily lives.
In addition to working with young adults, I bring many years of experience supporting parents in the Jewish community as they navigate behavioral challenges and impulsivity with their children. My background includes working in both public schools and yeshiva day schools, which allows me to help kids succeed academically and socially. I partner with parents to develop strategies that foster growth, resilience, and positive relationships, both at home and in broader social settings. Helping families build confidence and find balance is a central part of the work I love to do.
What you can expect from sessions with Esther Ebstein, LICSW, LCSW
The first step in therapy is gaining a comprehensive understanding of your life and identifying the areas you want to focus on. From there, my goal is to help clients develop practical skills to manage challenging symptoms such as intrusive thoughts, compulsive behaviors, and inattention. I work collaboratively with each person to create strategies that are both effective and tailored to their unique needs.
The tools and interventions we use are customized for every client and can include a variety of approaches. These may involve exposure therapy, cognitive-behavioral techniques, developing systems of organization, goal tracking, scheduling, journaling, breaking down tasks, time management, and role-playing real-life situations. By combining psycho-education with actionable strategies, I aim to help clients build confidence, create structure, and navigate life more effectively.
Esther Ebstein, LICSW, LCSW's experience working with the Jewish community
I have many years of experience working in Jewish schools, and I find supporting the Jewish community to be deeply rewarding and meaningful. My work has given me broad exposure to a variety of Jewish backgrounds, which allows me to connect with clients from diverse communities and understand their unique perspectives.
For example, I have worked in both a Syrian Jewish day school and a Yeshivish day school. I grew up attending Modern Orthodox schools, my family has strong connections to Chabad, and I also have relatives who are non-observant. This range of experience gives me a personal and professional understanding of the different ways Jewish life can be experienced, and it informs how I approach working with families and individuals across the community.
