Resilience, then, is not the absence of fear. It is the capacity to remain in relationship to oneself and to others while moving through it (Rappoport, 2026).

Why Dr. Evelyn Rappoport, PsyD. chose to be in the helping profession

I am a licensed psychotherapist, couples therapist, Life Coach, Clinical Supervisor, and Consultant with over 35 years of clinical experience treating individuals, couples, families, and groups in New York City and, more recently, in Jerusalem. Throughout my years of practice, I have remained committed to meeting my clients where they are and helping them access their authentic wholeness, so they can move toward becoming the best version of themselves. I believe that healing begins with creating a safe, private, and supportive space where you can better understand yourself, your experiences, and the patterns that have shaped the way you move through the world.

In the face of the growing array of anxiety, grief, and trauma emerging today, we are all experiencing chronic high stress and increasingly complex traumatic events. These experiences can show up in many ways, including intense emotions, swirling thoughts, anxiety, fear, and even unexplained aches and pains. My approach is individualized, and I offer each client a customized treatment plan designed to support healing and post-traumatic growth. Together, we explore the patterns that are worth celebrating and the patterns that may need to change. Understanding your biology and learning to come into autonomic regulation can be vital in releasing and reprocessing trauma and beginning to update your narrative.

My goal is not simply to help you understand what has happened to you, but to help you develop the awareness and tools to respond differently in the present. I invite you to explore your earliest impressions, attachment patterns, and the ways these experiences may continue to influence your behavior today. As you access your experiences and inner wisdom, you can begin to develop new ways of calming the body, self-regulating, resetting the nervous system, and creating a newly reimagined future.

If you are interested in identifying your habituated patterns and want to update and enliven your narrative, I invite you to call me for a 15-minute free consultation. This can be the beginning of a path toward healing, helping you move from reactivity to receptivity and resilience. After living and working in Israel for several years, I have also developed a new initiative offering a free private consultation to determine eligibility for a ketamine journey in Jerusalem.

Ketamine has been used for decades as an anesthetic and, at lower doses, can have rapid-acting effects on mood and symptoms of depression. It is approved for treatment-resistant depression, PTSD, and other psychiatric conditions. The journey takes place at the Keter Clinic in Jerusalem under careful medical supervision, with the medication administered intramuscularly. The protocol includes an intake interview, a psychiatric consultation, at least two preparatory sessions, and a post-session for integration, providing a structured setting for preparation, treatment, and reflection.

Dr. Evelyn Rappoport, PsyD.'s approach

My commitment is to meet my clients where they are and help them update their narrative. I believe that each person comes into therapy with a unique history, a unique set of experiences, and an inner wisdom that can become an important part of the healing process. Rather than asking you to simply leave your past behind, I want to help you understand how your experiences have shaped you and how you can begin to create a different relationship with your story.

Updating your narrative means creating space for new possibilities and new ways of understanding yourself. It means becoming aware of the patterns that have become habituated over time and deciding which ones continue to serve you and which ones you are ready to change. My hope is that through this process, you can feel more grounded, more connected to yourself, and more able to move forward with greater receptivity, resilience, and authenticity.

What you can expect from sessions with Dr. Evelyn Rappoport, PsyD.

In my practice, I integrate mindfulness, heartfulness, and awareness with a physical, emotional, and body-mind approach, which includes EMDR, breathwork, and movement. I believe that healing is not only about understanding our thoughts and emotions, but also about developing an awareness of what is happening within the body. Our earliest impressions and attachment patterns can continue to shape our behavior in the present, often in ways we may not immediately recognize.

As you access your experiences and inner wisdom, you can also gain skills to calm the body, self-regulate, reset the nervous system in the here and now, and create a newly reimagined future. I want my clients to develop a deeper understanding of the connection between their physical, emotional, and internal experiences. Through mindfulness, heartfulness, movement, breathwork, and approaches such as EMDR, we can begin to create greater awareness and flexibility in how you respond to life.

This work is about more than simply reacting differently. It is about becoming more receptive to yourself, understanding your own patterns, and developing the capacity to feel grounded even when life becomes challenging. By reconnecting with your body and your inner wisdom, you can begin to create meaningful change while remaining connected to who you authentically are.

Dr. Evelyn Rappoport, PsyD.'s experience working with the Jewish community

I have a lifelong connection with the Jewish community and have always valued the importance of community, connection, and being able to support others through meaningful times of need. Over the years, I have done a great deal of pro bono work for various communities and organizations, and this has been an important part of both my personal and professional life. I believe that our communities can be an important source of strength, belonging, and healing.

My connection to the Jewish community has also informed my understanding of the importance of meeting people where they are, with sensitivity to their individual experiences, values, and backgrounds. Having lived and worked in Israel for several years, and now working in Jerusalem, I have had the opportunity to deepen that connection in a very personal way. I bring this experience into my work with clients while continuing to make space for each person's individual story, needs, and path toward healing.
