Aviva Lazarus, DPT's style
💙 Warm 😃 Humorous 👂 Listener 🙌 AffirmingWhy Aviva Lazarus, DPT chose to be in the helping profession
I chose to be in the helping profession because I have always been passionate about supporting people through challenges and helping them reach their fullest potential. From a young age, I was drawn to connecting with others, listening to their experiences, and finding ways to help them feel understood and supported. Over the years, that passion grew into a career that allows me to make a meaningful difference in people's everyday lives. Helping others navigate difficult moments while recognizing their strengths and resilience continues to be one of the most rewarding parts of my work.
I especially love building meaningful connections with children and families and witnessing the growth that can happen when people feel truly seen, valued, and emotionally connected. I believe that every child and adult deserves the opportunity to develop confidence, strengthen relationships, and feel capable of overcoming life's challenges. My goal is to create a supportive environment where individuals and families can feel safe exploring their experiences, building on their strengths, and working toward positive change. Being able to guide people toward greater self-understanding, healthier relationships, and lasting growth is incredibly meaningful to me, and it is what continues to inspire me every day.
Aviva Lazarus, DPT's approach
My approach to therapy, coaching, and counseling is centered around connection, empathy, and seeing each person as a whole. I believe that meaningful and lasting growth happens when people feel safe enough to be themselves, understood without judgment, and supported through life's challenges. Every individual brings their own experiences, strengths, and needs, which is why I take an individualized approach that honors where each person is emotionally, developmentally, and personally. My goal is to create a space where clients feel comfortable exploring their experiences, building self-awareness, and moving toward positive change.
In my work with children, I focus on building strong relationships through play, emotional connection, and support tailored to each child's unique needs. I work with children experiencing all forms of emotional and behavioral dysregulation, helping them feel better, understand their emotions, and develop the skills needed to regulate their actions and responses more effectively. I believe that when children feel connected, understood, and supported, they are better able to grow, learn, and thrive.
When working with teens and adults through coaching and counseling, I help clients gain insight, improve communication, strengthen relationships, and build confidence in themselves and their decisions. I strive to create a warm, supportive environment where people feel empowered to overcome challenges, develop healthier patterns, and recognize their own strengths. Whether someone is navigating a difficult season of life or working toward personal growth, I am committed to helping them feel supported as they heal, grow, and reach their full potential.

Aviva Lazarus, DPT's experience working with the Jewish community
As someone who grew up in the Orthodox Jewish community, I have a deep understanding of the values, traditions, family dynamics, and religious practices that are an important part of daily life for many Jewish individuals and families. This background has given me a firsthand appreciation for both the strengths and complexities that can come with navigating personal, family, and emotional challenges within the context of community and faith. Throughout my professional experience, it has helped me build meaningful, trusting relationships with Jewish children, adults, and families who value working with someone who understands their world and experiences.
I believe that effective support begins with understanding the whole person, including the cultural and religious values that shape their life. I strive to provide care that is respectful, culturally sensitive, and aligned with each individual's or family's beliefs, priorities, and lifestyle. My familiarity with the Orthodox Jewish community allows me to connect with clients on a deeper level and create an environment where they feel comfortable, understood, and supported without needing to explain important aspects of their background. I am passionate about helping individuals and families within the Jewish community navigate life's challenges, strengthen relationships, and move toward growth and healing while feeling supported both emotionally and culturally.

What people have to say about working with me:
-
Aviva has a remarkable ability to read people. She can look at someone and quickly sense what’s bothering them, which allows her to respond with empathy and precision. This skill makes her exceptionally effective with clients. Children adjust to working with her with ease because her warmth puts them at ease right away. She’s equally committed to parents — she dedicates significant time to helping them understand their child’s needs and exactly how she can support them. Reliability is one of Aviva’s defining traits. She is incredibly consistent and dedicated, and hardly misses a session. When she commits to something, she follows through. What impresses me most is her commitment to growth. If Aviva feels there’s a gap in her knowledge, she actively seeks out learning opportunities to fill it. She is constantly looking for ways to improve her practice and deepen her expertise.
