Kate Winkler, LAMFT's style
🎯 Direct 😃 Humorous 💪 Challenging 🥇 EmpoweringWhy Kate Winkler, LAMFT chose to be in the helping profession
I get excited about the challenge of helping people discover and shift the unconscious patterns that keep them stuck, control their choices, and leave them feeling frustrated or unhappy. Some of the most meaningful work happens when people begin to recognize themes that have been following them for years and start to understand where those patterns come from. With greater awareness comes the opportunity for change, and I find it incredibly rewarding to help people move toward a life that feels more authentic, connected, and fulfilling.
I especially love working with couples who have reached a point where they feel hopeless or convinced that things will never change. There is something powerful about watching two people work through long-standing blockages, begin to understand each other differently, and create new ways of relating. Whether I’m working with individuals or couples, I see it as a core part of my role to help people notice what they feel, trust those feelings more, and develop the confidence and skills to pursue what they truly want in their relationships and in life. My goal is to create a space where insight leads to meaningful change, and where people feel empowered to move forward with greater clarity and self-trust.
Kate Winkler, LAMFT's approach
When working with individuals, I believe that the relationship we build together can offer valuable insight into the challenges they experience in other areas of their life. The way we respond to one another often reflects patterns that show up in relationships, work, family dynamics, and a person’s relationship with themselves. Paying attention to these moments allows us to better understand what is happening beneath the surface and creates opportunities for meaningful change. Rather than simply talking about problems, I see therapy as a place where those patterns can be experienced, explored, and worked through in real time.
When working with couples, I focus closely on the quality of their interaction. I often slow conversations down so there is enough space to notice and make use of the many layers of information being communicated, both verbally and nonverbally. My approach is centered on identifying core relational themes and helping couples understand how those themes shape their connection. I am a very hands-on therapist and provide a great deal of guidance throughout the process. Couples often begin to see meaningful shifts early on as they gain new awareness, communicate more effectively, and experience each other in a different way.
What you can expect from sessions with Kate Winkler, LAMFT
Through our work together, you'll likely become more aware of aspects of your experience that you may have previously overlooked or dismissed, including body sensations, emotional reactions, and the deeper meaning behind the words you choose. As you develop this awareness, you may begin to notice specific desires, wishes, and needs with greater clarity, along with the ways you habitually minimize, avoid, or talk yourself out of them. My goal is to help you build a stronger connection to this information so that you can trust it, use it, and make choices that feel more aligned with who you are and what you truly want.
Kate Winkler, LAMFT's experience working with the Jewish community
As an Israeli who has been living in North America and working with the Jewish community in various capacities for over a decade, I bring both personal and professional familiarity with the many ways Jewish identity can be experienced and expressed. I have worked with Jewish individuals and couples from across the religious spectrum, from completely secular to Orthodox, and have a deep appreciation for the diversity that exists within the community. I am familiar with the rituals, traditions, cultural norms, family dynamics, and spiritual questions that can shape a person's life, relationships, and sense of self.
At the same time, shared background is only one part of the picture. What matters most is whether you feel understood, comfortable, and able to be yourself in the room. My goal is to create a space where every part of your experience can be explored openly, without assumptions or judgment. The best way to know whether we're a good fit is to reach out and connect. A conversation can often tell you more than any profile ever could.
