My Ode to Trees - Tu Bshvat

My Ode to Trees - Tu Bshvat by Tziporah Eisenstein, LCSW, CEDS, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Certified Eating Disorders Specialist

Stuck in the mud

Skin hardened by cold

Sees months

In the death of the sun.

His arms open, barren

If he snaps,

No one knows.

Echoes of cheer

Muffled by snow.

And the axes are turning,

Oceans are churning,

Fate asking again

To trust her.

For within his chest, rising

A sweetness, bubbling

Surging forth

Potential

Of summer.

We cannot soften

Life's rhythm and rhyme

Simply take heed of its call.

Allow seasons to pass

Outside of you,

To you,

Through you,

Then let it all fall.

Center your spine

Into the stillness

Bury it deep in yore.

To carry your burden

Along with your honor

Grounded in the storm.

Next season of desolation,

Remember to reach for the sky.

The future is stirring,

Unfolding

You are fixed in a moment in time.
