Sukkos and the family time that comes with it is over, and now it's time to settle into routine. For many people, this means setting up the help and the helpers needed to ensure a beautiful and growth filled winter.
It's hard to need help, and even harder to ask for help.
When asking for help, there are eight questions that can help you find clarity in your process.
- Why am I looking to get help?
-
- Growth is both beautiful and challenging. If you know why you are doing this work, it will help you be motivated to go through the process even when the going gets tough.
-
- Where would I prefer to get this help, in person or remotely?
-
- There are benefits to both options, choose what feels right for you.
-
- What are my goals that I would like to accomplish?
-
- Your goals serve as guideposts to where you would like to go.
-
- What has helped me reach my goals in the past?
-
- You are the expert on your experience. Think about what has helped you already, so your helper can be informed on the best way to support you.
-
- What have I already tried that didn't work for me?
-
- If it's not working, it's worth it to try something new.
-
- Is there a modality I want to use?
-
- You may have heard of a therapeutic technique that has been helpful to you or to somebody you know. If you do, this can help you pick a clinician who is trained in that modality.
-
- How will I be paying?
-
- Insurance and private pay are both good options, pick what works better for you.
-
- How will I know that I am heading towards my goals?
-
- You'll know that you're on your way when you reach these signs or signals.
-
Wishing you much success and help from Hashem as you head towards a better you!
