Whether it’s the toddler having a full-blown tantrum, your nine-year-old melting down over homework, or your teenager riding the waves of hormones, it can feel like a roller coaster.
Big emotions, no brakes, twists and loops.
Here’s the thing:
As tempting as it is, try not to ride it with them.
Our job is to stay on the bench, calm and steady, both feet on the ground, holding the puke bucket if needed🪣
As hard as it is not to match their volume or intensity, that’s exactly what they need.
They need our calm when everything in them feels out of control.
They won’t thank you in the moment, and they may not even notice.🤷♀️
But one day, maybe when they’re grown and doing this with their own kids, it’ll make sense.❤️🩹
Until then, breathe, drink your coffee, and be there when they’re ready to get off the ride.☕️
Let Them Ride the Rollercoaster, You Stay on the Ground and Wait for Them to Come Off.
