Will practicing mindfulness at bedtime help me fall asleep and stay asleep?

The effectiveness of incorperating mindfullness into your routine for better sleep is dependant on a few factors. While it may have positive impacts for some, it is not guarunteed to be universally effective. Insomnia is characterized by the relentless effort to control the onset of sleep and engaging in mindfullness can become another attempt to control sleep which is counterproductive to the relaxation needed to fall asleep. A more beneficial approach would be to incorperate mindfullness excersizes into your day with the goal being unwinding, relaxing and reducing stress. Daytime stress significantly impacts the quality of your sleep at night, so by making it a priority to reduce daytime stress, you can actually start sleeping better.
