True Freedom From Sleep Issues

True Freedom From Sleep Issues by Doron Lazarus, CISC, Certified Integrative Sleep Coach

Pesach is coming up, and everywhere you turn people are talking about freedom.

Freedom from slavery. Freedom from limitations. Freedom to live the life we’re meant to live.

But I’ve been thinking about a different kind of freedom lately.

What does it actually mean to be free… from sleep issues?

Because if you’ve ever struggled with sleep, you know—it’s not just about the night.

It starts way before your head even hits the pillow.

There’s this low-level tension that follows you through the day. In the back of your mind, there’s always that question: “What’s tonight going to be like?”
Will it be one of those nights where you fall asleep easily… or one where you’re staring at the ceiling at 2:00 AM, watching the hours slip away?

And then bedtime comes, and instead of feeling calm or tired, your mind wakes up.

You start thinking. Planning. Replaying conversations. Worrying about tomorrow.
And then, almost automatically, you start doing the math:
“If I fall asleep right now, I’ll get six hours… okay, now it’s five and a half…”

That pressure alone can keep you awake.

So what does freedom look like?

It’s lying in bed and not thinking about sleep at all.
It’s trusting your body again.

It’s going through your day without that cloud of exhaustion hanging over you.
Not needing three coffees just to feel like a functioning human being.

It’s not having to rely on sleep medication just to get through the night.
And not dealing with that groggy, heavy feeling the next morning that never quite goes away.

It’s waking up and actually feeling… refreshed.
Clear. Present. Like yourself again.

And if you’ve been dealing with this for a while, that might sound almost unrealistic.

But here’s the thing most people don’t realize:

Sleep issues aren’t random.
They’re not your body “breaking.”
And they’re definitely not something you just have to live with.

They’re signals.

Something in your system—your habits, your stress levels, your mindset, even deeper subconscious patterns—is out of alignment.

And your body is trying to get your attention.

Most approaches focus on knocking you out. Sedating the problem.
But real freedom doesn’t come from forcing sleep.

It comes from understanding why your system isn’t letting go in the first place… and gently guiding it back into balance.

That’s when sleep starts to happen naturally again.

And when that happens, it’s not just your nights that change.

Your mood shifts.
Your energy comes back.
You start showing up differently in your relationships, your work, your life.

It’s one of those things you don’t fully appreciate until you get it back.

So as Pesach approaches and the idea of freedom is in the air…

It might be worth asking yourself:

What would it feel like to be truly free when it comes to your sleep?

No pressure. No frustration. No exhaustion.

Just… rest.

And if that’s something you’re ready for, you don’t have to figure it out alone.
