My SBT Journey: From Traditional ABA to Compassionate, Trauma-Informed Behavior Support
Event Description:
In this webinar, I will share my professional journey transitioning from traditional Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) approaches to Practical Functional Assessment (PFA) and Skills-Based Treatment (SBT), based on the work of Greg Hanley.
This session is designed for BCBAs, with a limited amount of seats avilable for educators, therapists, and professionals who are curious about or new to SBT. I will break down what led me to shift my practice, what SBT looks like in real school and clinical settings, and how this approach can transform the way we understand and support severe behavior.
We will explore key principles including compassionate care, trauma-informed practice, and building meaningful, functional skills while prioritizing safety, dignity, and rapport. I will also share real examples from my work training educators and implementing SBT systems across school environments.
Whether you are completely new to SBT or looking to deepen your understanding, this session will provide a clear, practical overview of how this model differs from traditional approaches and how it can be implemented in meaningful ways across settings.
