Why Dr. Tali Kahan, NMD chose to be in the helping profession

My desire to enter the helping profession began in high school, when I first aspired to become a therapist. I was deeply curious about human well-being and drawn to understanding what helps people feel healthier, more connected, and more whole. That curiosity eventually led me to explore alternative ways of living in community, and I began traveling the world at a young age. While living in ecovillages, intentional communities, and on farms, I discovered the vital relationship between the body, mind, spirit, community, and environment.

My decision to become a naturopathic medical doctor was also deeply personal and rooted in my own health journey. During my youth, I struggled with anxiety and gut health challenges, which gave me a firsthand understanding of what it feels like to be a patient searching for answers. These experiences inspired me to study diverse healing modalities, including herbalism, Ayurveda, plant medicine, and traditional Western medicine. Today, I practice as a functional medicine doctor, bridging rigorous Western medicine with natural healing techniques to provide thoughtful, holistic care.

Dr. Tali Kahan, NMD's approach

My approach is deeply collaborative, and I aim to walk alongside you throughout your health journey. Together, we will get curious about what is happening in your body by looking closely at both Western and functional lab results. Rather than focusing only on symptoms, we will work to uncover the underlying factors contributing to your health concerns. Whenever possible, I approach healing with the least invasive support first.

Our work may begin with comprehensive functional lab testing, depending on your symptoms, medical history, and individual needs. This may include functional medicine serum markers, stool testing for parasites, inflammation, and intestinal permeability, as well as heavy metal, mold, and mitochondrial testing. My goal is to explore the available options carefully so that you can make informed decisions and choose the path that feels right for you. Your treatment plan may incorporate herbs, Ayurveda, vitamins, peptides, nutrition, lifestyle changes, exercise, meditation, or Western pharmaceuticals when appropriate.

What you can expect from sessions with Dr. Tali Kahan, NMD

My work serves as a bridge between Western medicine and a holistic approach to healing. I bring together rigorous functional medicine training with herbalism, vitamins, peptides, Ayurveda, nutrition, and coaching. In my concierge, boutique style practice, we take the time to look beyond isolated symptoms and understand how the different aspects of your health may be connected. The goal is to identify the root causes of your concerns and address them naturally, first and foremost.

Whether you are navigating gut health concerns, hormone imbalances, autoimmunity, infections, mold exposure, or other complex health challenges, your care will be tailored to your unique needs. We will review your history, symptoms, test results, lifestyle, and wellness goals to create a therapeutic plan that feels both comprehensive and manageable. You can expect thoughtful guidance, ongoing collaboration, and space to ask questions throughout the process. I will be with you every step of the way as we work toward greater health and wellness.

Dr. Tali Kahan, NMD's experience working with the Jewish community

The Jewish community makes up the vast majority of my patient population, which feels like a tremendous bracha. I grew up in the Pico Robertson community of Los Angeles, where Jewish life, values, and connection were an important part of my upbringing. That background allows me to understand many of the cultural, religious, and lifestyle considerations that can shape a patient’s health and treatment decisions. It also helps me provide care that feels respectful, relevant, and aligned with each person’s life.

It is an absolute gift to be able to care for my community and support my people through their health journeys. I value the trust my patients place in me and do not take that responsibility lightly. My goal is to create a space where Jewish patients feel understood, comfortable, and supported in every aspect of their care. Serving this community is one of the most meaningful parts of my work.

What people have to say about working with me:

  • After four years of extreme stomach issues and related panic disorder, anxiety, and infertility, Tali basically turned my health around in 3 weeks with NO ANTIBIOTICS OR ANTIDEPRESSANTS, only supplements and lifestyle changes. Four months in and I finally feel like I'm living again--not just surviving. I'm functioning with very little anxiety. I'm sleeping better than I ever have. And I finally feel hopeful enough to start IVF. If you feel hopeless or think that the western medical system is getting you nowhere, please dont hesitate to reach out to Tali. Just do the initial consultation. You won't regret it.
